This is my post for #freewriters 2876 prompt ostracize the ostrich hosted by @mariannewest

image.png my dad and grandmother When I first started writing, I wanted to write about my day to day life as a fisherman, that is why I chose the name myjob, and what went on in my life when not fishing. I thought it would be something nice for my kids and grandkids to have because I would have liked to have something from my grandparents and parents about their lives, like how my grandparents traveled from Georgia to Florida by oxen and wagon, what they endured each day, and setting up a homestead, and raising my Dad, Aunts, and Uncles. My grandfather was a fisherman and a moonshiner. I would love to know how he fished and what he caught, what the weather was like, etc. My grandmother was like a midwife, I would have loved to read her stories.

Then Dad built a small house, but they only had a tarp for a roof. She never gave me an exact number of years they lived this way, she only said it was a long time. There are so many more things I wish I knew.

It would be untrue and unfair for me to write only about the good days. I believe that even if something is personal, I should write it down.

Yesterday, and today, I saw what I think it means to ostracize the ostrich. When we came home with the freezer in the back of the truck, my son was standing in the kitchen. He knew the old one needed to come out of the house, and the new one needed to be inside. He walked to his room and did not come out to help. I woke this morning in so much pain that all day I have not been able to stand up straight.

To make matters worse, he has a friend I have told not to come onto our property four different times, the last time I told him I would call the law if I caught him here again. This morning, my son went outside at daylight. He has been doing this for several mornings, so this morning I watched him. He went to my shed and left the shed door open. I kept watching and saw him and the guy I had told not to be here come out of it. Now my shed has a lock on it, and the room my son was staying in has a lock on it. I told him that if he wants to sleep here, he can sleep in a recliner in the living room. He pushed this ostrich too far. I know my son is doing heavy drugs, and I am sure this "friend" is also. I have Narcan in the house for my son, and I do not want to find someone who has ODed in my shed. photos are mine
