Anyone out there ever make Pear wine? What about Meade from Pears?

I got a pear score of a lifetime this year!!! Our neighbors elderly Pear tree hangs gloriously over our back yard. Every year since we have lived here, except for one, there has been a seasonal dropping of delicious almost ripe pears in our front yard.

And every year I go and pick up what drops and let them ripen to use. In past years I’ve dried some and made pear butter and pear leather. Last year I didn’t do much and the year before there weren’t any at all.

This year though… this year the tree is dripping so heavy with fruit that a coupe of branches have snapped because of the weight. One of them came down in the neighbors yard, and the fruit was pretty unripe still. I went with some help and gathered the branch in full.

The fruit I picked away and then I took the wood and made a pile for winter fires. But the unripe pears, I decided to make a batch of wine with. I’ll need to amend a bit (and if you have any Ideas please share them with me) and add sugar and stuff…

I’ve dried some pears too this year so I will be using some of those for added sweet.

But since that wonderful haul, the drops have been exceptional. Another branch on our side of the fence broke too so I’ll be harvesting that for wood too.

Lots of frozen ripe pears for a Meade recipe too. Getting very excited. I’ll be sure to share the process once I start brewing it up.
