Jin's flashback revealed his uncle Shimura teaching him that true strength comes from control and honor, not reckless strikes. Back in the present, Jin fought Mongols with Yuna, rescuing villagers and securing a horse for his journey. Choosing Nobu as his companion, Jin prepared to ride toward Castle Kaneda to rescue Shimura.

When the young Jin was focused on his practice, there came his uncle Shimura to tell him his enemy is no match for him but he still lack control.

Shimura said he'd teach Jin to defend himself. When young Jin said he knows how to fight even after getting beaten up, Shimura said Jin must first control his emotions to master his blade.

Shimura asked Jin to show him what he's been practicing and asked him to strike him.

This was actually my training in the game, to become a good samurai and its a fantastic way for a tutorial. I tried quick attacks, heavy attacks and stab attacks on Shimura.

Shimura said if Jin would fight like this, his attacker would not bruise him easily. Shimura suggested Jin to imagine his attacker returns to finish what he started with every dirty trick he knows, how Jin would defend himself.
There were two options for me to choose and I went for "Strike First" which was the wrong answer as its a small victory, achieved without no honor and its against the motto of Samurai.

The training continued where I had to break through Shimura's defenses first and then I had to try blocking his attacks, including spear attacks.

When I passed all his tests, Shimura asked for a sparring match with the challenge that the first to land five strikes gets to choose dinner.

Shimura struck me first as I was not ready and he even did a second one. But I didn't let him do another one, I landed five strikes right after that and I won.
Before they eat, Shimura asked Jin one last question and it was about a code that their families have lived by for generations. Jin replied correct.

Then Jin was back to the present, from the flashback where a Mongol with a spear found Jin so Jin prepared for a fight.

I thought it'd be a hard fight but after dodging the enemies first attack, I struck through his heart and stop it from beating.

Jin asked where they'd get a horse so Yuna took him towards a stable and they noticed some Mongols were torturing the villagers there.

Yuna was planning to slit their throats and kill them without a sound, but Jin was all about not breaking his code so he went for a stand off first and with my help, took the enemies down.

There were more Mongols trapped more villagers. Yuna was talking about ignoring them but Jin became a hero, was thinking of saving anyone he could so I had to fight more Mongols there.

We went for the stables where I had to take down more Mongols and then found some horses. They were samurai horses and I could choose only one that'd stick with me for the rest of my journey.

I tried the white horse and named him Nobu (Trust) though later I noticed Jin looks better on a black horse. And we were riding towards Castle Kaneda to save Shimura as Yuna said he should be captured and alive in there.
