The fun of having a picnic by the river with friends is different. In fact, a few days ago, when I went to travel by the river, I saw some friends having a picnic by the river. That's when I remembered the day we left behind. I also had a picnic by the river and on the sandbank of the river with my friends. I am sharing one such story with you today. I hope you like the story.
On a bone-chilling winter morning, five friends from our village, Manik, Sabbir, Zahid and Sohel, decided to have a picnic. Exams were over, school was out, and on such a cold day, the joy of walking through the fog on the riverbank was different. The previous night, the entire plan was made sitting at the tea shop at the village intersection. Who would bring what, who would cook, and even whose responsibility it was to bring the sound box for the songs was decided.
The next morning, we met at the Amtala intersection at seven in the morning. The fog above our heads, the dew-soaked rice fields on the land nearby, and the smell of the siuly flowers in the distance made our minds feel completely refreshed. Everyone had a pot in one hand and a bag in the other. Manik was holding the pot with one hand and the stove to light the fire in the other. Although his face was full of annoyance, he always seemed to be the one doing the most work. Sabbir had already said, I will play music and sit down and give orders! We walked to the riverbank. There was a beautiful empty space under a big banyan tree, a sandy beach next to it, and a few shepherd boys were grazing cows in the distance. The river current was flowing slowly. We cleaned the place and sat down with the winter sun on our backs.
The responsibility of cooking fell on Sohel and Zahid. They both wanted to cook, but neither of them had much experience. It was hard to tell who was washing the rice and who was throwing it into the water! The first danger was when we tried to light the stove. The wood was wet, the fire was not catching at all. Zahid said, "Pour the kerosene!" And the kerosene was poured so much that the entire stove became a ball of fire. Manik hurriedly poured water and fell into the river! Everyone was laughing so hard that their stomachs burst.
After a while, Sabbir announced, "I will make a potato stew. Let's see how it turns out!" He put the potatoes on the fire and sang, "Oh, the river... where are you going?"
The potatoes had already turned into coal. After eating the stew, Zahid said, "Brother, is this stew or a piece of coal?"
We had caught a few small fish from the river in advance. Zahid said, I will fry the fish!" Without heating the oil properly, he released the fish. The oil bubbled and bubbled and the fish jumped out of the stove. Manik said, "You don't cook fish, they're like firecrackers!" After all the hassle was taken care of, it was time to eat by noon. The polava was a bit raw, the meat had less salt, and the fish—that's history! Still, we all sat down and ate, laughing. Whatever the food, it's more fun to share it with friends. After eating, we sang songs, some started walking in the river with their feet wet, some started walking in the sand. Rolling around laughing.
As evening fell, the sky began to glow red. A light, cool breeze was blowing over the river, and in the distance the cows were on their way home. We sat and talked, planned to have more picnics in the future, and prepared to return home feeling a little sad. During the journey, Manik said, no matter how strange the food was, I will never forget this day in my life. I smiled and said, that's what a picnic is all about—laughter, fun, and a little mess!
Moments spent with friends are meant to be joyful, and life can be appreciated more in the midst of this laughter, joy, and play. So these moments spent with friends were very enjoyable, I feel very happy to share the story with you today.
