This Sunset picture I had clicked while I was on a Cruise holiday. I have such wonderful memories of this holiday. It was during the times when the covid bans had started lifting up and travel was again resuming. For 2 years there was no travel and I was already feeling very restless. The covid year was also the year of my 25th wedding anniversary and this holiday we wanted to plan during that time to celebrate our anniversary. It did not happen, and I was waiting for things to settle down and open up. As soon as travel resumed in a couple of months we planned this holiday.
Covid had not gone out completely so there were restrictions at many places. We had to do the PCR test 2 days before boarding the cruise. Before the cruise we had a 2 weeks itinerary in Italy and I was so worried as to where could we possibly get the PCR test done just 2 days before as we did not know anything. I had done some research though and found out that the PCR test could be done at the pharmacy. I remember the day we had to do the test, I was so nervous, because me, hubby and son all of us had to come clear to get on to the cruise, so it was nerve breaking. Also we were travelling since so many days and covid was still in the air so you never know.
Still we were taking some precautions like taking steam twice a day, and our dose of zinc supplements. After the test, we were to get the results in around half an hour and that half an hour looked like 50 hours of wait. One by one the pharmacist started telling us the results, and we were all clear. That was it, my joy knew no bounds, I was on top of the world. That night we had a grand feast at one of the Indian restaurants in Rome. The cruise was our dream holiday. On the day of the cruise when we reached the boarding point, we had another one small unexpected set back, but that was resolved soon, and once we finished all the clearances I was on cloud 9. After that nothing could stop me, I was on a roll of taking pictures. We all 3 were so overjoyed.
This is on one of the evenings from the room balcony, we were leaving the port of Naples and witnessed this beautiful sunset. After all the hassles and all the wait, this felt like the Universe was showing it's magic.
It was a 8 days cruise and every moment we thoroughly enjoyed, everything was first time experience and it was all so overwhelming. The holiday was all arranged by one of my friend who is in travel industry and he had given us lot of extra bonuses, which made it all the more exciting. Those 8 days I felt like I was living a royal life.
If I get a chance I will surely do a cruise holiday again. It is one of the best experience to enjoy.
