Cómo dije anteriormente, la diferencia entre ambos equipos se hace notoria a tan solo ver la posición de ambos en la clasificación; el Real Madrid llegaba al Derbi como líder e invicto, en cambio, el Atlético de Madrid, se mantenía en mitad de la clasificación después de obtener una derrota, dos victorias y tres empates y seguramente esa diferencia hizo pensar que posiblemente este era el Derbi Madrileño más dispar en los últimos años, pero a pesar de ser una correcta afirmación, creo había factores que me hicieron pensar que tal vez este sería otro encuentro competitivo entre estos dos clubes y esto era debido a la similitud de ambos en no dominar por completo varios de los encuentros disputados en La Liga.
Sé qué habrá quien piense que estoy equivocado al decir que el Real Madrid no dominó a sus rivales estando invicto en la temporada, pero creo que la dependencia de Mbappé más las bajas en defensa y (también) la dependencia de jóvenes jugadores en la posición de defensores centrales, pueden convertirse en un factor en contra para el Real Madrid, así como uno a favor para los rivales. Justamente, esa necesidad del Atleti de revertir esos resultados nada positivos, fue lo que impulsó a ese equipo a ser mejor que su vecino rival; primeramente el equipo visitante trato de imponer su ley en los primeros minutos, pero al momento de superar la presión del club merengue, el equipo del Cholo Simeone, supo en qué momento pegar y eso fue confiando en su doble pivote y los dos volantes ofensivos que se convirtieron en dominadores del juego creando muchas oportunidades, justamente en los pies de Gio y Koke, llegaron los dos primeros goles del Atleti, uno para abrir el marcador y el otro para nuevamente nivelar y así irse al descanso en igualdad. El segundo tiempo, el equipo del Cholo entró en un nivel muy superior a su rival, en su mentalidad no había tregua alguna y desde el comienzo de los 45 minutos reglamentarios, era evidente que un solo equipo quería salir victorioso; hay que también decir que el Atleti aprovechó las ventajas de enfrentar a una defensa diezmada lo cual generó mucha desconfianza en el equipo visitante, una que en mi opinión brindó todas las oportunidades para perder lo cual al final fue lo que sucedió al recibir tres goles y así terminar goleados.

75 años tuvieron que pasar para que nuevamente el Atleti pudiera doblegar a su rival con un marcador a favor de 5 goles, justamente creo que esa cantidad de goles nunca la espero ver ningún aficionado de ambos clubes, pero nuevamente repito, estos equipos poseen muchas falencias que en cada jornada eran evidentes y que por supuesto, era siempre el Atlético de Simeone el señalado por justamente no ganar, pero después de propinar una goleada al equipo que estaba ganado todo encuentro disputado, es ahora el Real Madrid de Alonso el equipo señalado, el que posiblemente genere desconfianza en sus aficionados cuando nuevamente ven que ese equipo cae goleado al enfrentar a un rival de elite, así como les sucedió en el Mundial de Clubes contra el PSG y justamente esa derrota hace ver que no se aprendió nada y se teme que esa práctica errónea se vuelva a repetir y se pierda nuevamente de manera estrepitosa.
