Last Thursday, Allianz Parque hosted the second leg of the second semifinal of the Conmebol Copa Libertadores between Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras and Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito. Para este encuentro, Ferreira necesitaba un equipo más ofensivo, pero que de igual manera ocupará espacio en el medio campo y así dominar el juego; está idea la trató de implementar en el encuentro de ida al usar 4 mediocampistas posicionados de la siguiente manera, uno por delante de la línea defensiva y tres adelante de quien debió proveer salida del balón justamente desde la defensa hacia adelante; esa idea claramente no funcionó, ya que la altura no permitió que ninguno de esos jugadores demostrara su calidad y por eso sucumbieron, ahora posiblemente se pudo pensar que esa misma táctica sería usada en el encuentro de vuelta, pero Abel tenía otro plan el cual en esta oportunidad funcionó perfectamente.

No hay ninguna duda que el gran protagonista de esta semifinal fue **Abel Ferreira**, para bien y para mal porque primeramente subestimó a su rival que pudo y debió hacer más daño aprovechando las ventajas que brinda jugar en la altura de Quito y esa falta de humildad le pudo costar el puesto de entrenador, pero al final esa derrota posiblemente hizo que Abel pusiera los pies en la tierra y sintiera que era momento de competir y entendió en el lugar que está, en el equipo que ha formado en anteriores años y que ahora es igual o más competitivo y que al frente tuvo un digno rival, por eso está vez fue más inteligente y llenó de convicción a sus jugadores que respondieron en el campo porque vieron que su entrenador está hambriento de títulos como seguramente lo están ellos y así nos regalaron otra noche mágica más en la **Bendita Copa Libertadores**.
