The changing of the seasons from summer to autumn is a bit of a slow one in this area of Armenia. It's still incredibly hot. Still above 30 Celsius for the most part. The sun is just as intense as it was a month ago, and there's not a whole lot you can really do out in it without putting yourself at risk. I've been mostly going out in the evenings as a result, short walks around sunset when the heat isn't as intense and the risk from the UV isn't as strong. During the day there isn't much else to do, besides maybe sit in the garden in the shelter, sipping on coffee, having the odd meal, and accompanying it with some whiskey or wine. That's the Armenian way, it seems. Slow living. Just letting the days pass. It's quite an easy habit to get yourself into, I must admit.
Throughout the day I have still tried to capture scenes within the garden at least, as to not sit around bored entirely. Towards the night as the artificial lighting came on, the moths of the area appeared. Their large bodies thumping into the lights and ceiling above. The sound strong and hard to ignore. Others would just find a place to sit still at and rest, not sure what their thought process, if any, would be regarding just stopping still somewhere and doing nothing. Maybe to soak in some of that light and its warmth? I have no idea how moths operate, I'll be honest. But any wildlife is deeply fascinating to me. I captured this one just relaxed. Using the 85mm lens and the 35mm, trying to use the little light i had, even using my phone torch for a bit of a boost. It didn't care at all that I was there, even when I got up real close to it.
The lack of rainfall has pulled out large cracks in the Earth around. The trees holding some fruit that are strong in their red and pink tones whereas others are a strong green. Others attacked by the insects and falling to that dry Earth. I took this shot thinking it might actually be a decent seller on some stock agencies if I attribute some exaggerated themes to it like climate change and its impact on naturally grown fruit, especially with droughts. We'll see how that goes down the line, I guess! Elsewhere large rows of turnips grow from the ground up. They're looking much healthier in comparison to the fruit on the trees. Perhaps from their more frequent daily soaking with the hose. Probably doing more than whatever the trees get.
Though the fruit season is on its way out, only to be replaced with the final growths of the year with the pomegranates. Those are looking beautiful at the moment. I showed those the other day, not much point in showing them again, I think!
Not too far is the Zvartnots Airport. The planes come and go throughout the day and night. You can hear their engines roaring, watching them as their come in for their descents. Sometimes their ascents as they take off. I don't usually photograph this sort of thing as the 85mm lens I have just isn't quiet long enough to capture the details properly, without having to intensely crop in and try to pull out as much as I can. Though I liked how this one turned out. Something I'd love to do more of in the future with a more appropriate lens. Perhaps back into the streets soon, if those more overcast days continue rolling on in. Though for now I think a few more of these slower, lazier days inside are to come.
