Hello, HIVE friends I'm back!🤓 It's been a while since my last blog. This time I would like to share with you my experience last weekend with the boys.
A backyard camping happened in our school last weekend. Back when I was in my Elementary and High School years, I was envious of my classmates who always attended school camping because my mother wouldn't allow us to participate for only one reason, no money for uniforms and other expenses for the activity. That is why when I became a teacher, I never missed attending camping at school.
Our settling down happened on Friday afternoon. With the boys, we assembled our tent hand-in-hand using the different lashing and tying learned ahead of time. They showed eagerness and excitement in doing the job.
In the evening we had a short story telling about about the history and founder of scouting. We also had a short review about primary and secondary directions which is very essential in hiking and treasure hunting. After which, we had brainstorming in creating our chants and songs. We then had practice on our chants, songs and presentations for the camp fire activity.
On Saturday as our first activity was the hiking. Our destination is Little Batanes, a meters away from our school. We embarked at dawn. The scouters were energetic and excited specially for the once having this activity as their first time.
Hi ho hi ho! Let's go, to Batanes we go! Going forward was so lively, the boys were singing and chanting without minding the droplets of rain. When were at the foot of the mountain, the real struggle begins.
Going up was no easy. The road was muddy. Some of the boys left their shoes and slippers behind because they could walk faster by foot. But the excitement and happiness are still evident in their faces. They enjoyed stepping on the muddy road.
At long last were on top! We were enjoying the fresh air and beauty of nature.
While on top, the senior scouts teaches the younger ones on how to perform head bandage and arm sling. Skills. Needed for first aid purposes. After everyone had perform the activity, we then had picture taking for souvenirs.
Time to go back to the camp. Let's get down!
If going up is no easy going down is far difficult. You need to have a strong footwork so you won't slid down because it's too steep and slippery.
Going down, nobody talk to get hold of themselves to the ground. The boys who left their shoes while going up, picks it up and hand carry it going back to the camp.
When reaching the cemented road, the boys started chanting, singing and laughing, as a sign of relief and success.
When reaching the camp, the boys cleaned themselves thoroughly and prepare themselves for the days activity.
Indeed this experience will last to the boys memories. May it help them become better and fruitful citizens in the future.
That's all for now, thank you for your time spent in this blog of mine.🙋 DAGHANG SALAMAT! (Thank you very much!)
