Panic Attack, poetry by @naquoya.
Day 26 of 100 for @d-pend's Poetry Challenge
Panic Attack
A heartbeat tries to make itself known by announcing its intentions at one thousand miles an hour.
Moments ago all had been still. Now that moment has broken and the dark night crept in.
Neurons dance to the sound of their own beat, laid down in a tempo that defies all compassion or empathic details.
The breath is forgotten, like a stranger, like a bearer of bad tidings who has come back for more. Uninvited, he sits by and watches as a crushing weight tumbles down.
Not the first time but each time is never unique, nor incomplete. Suffocating, pulsating its insipid demands, its crushing weight.
Until a memory returns; Breath.
Reading Notes: This poetry is new and written exclusively for the 100 Day Poetry Challenge, which is explained in more detail here and here.
