3D Printed Bookplates!

I wanted to show off a recent project i ran on the printer. I've been doing a lot of reading and buying of new books, and I was looking online for a bookplate to mark my books when it hits me that I could print one!

I used Overture space gray TPU for the filament hoping for the effect of a rubber stamp. This was my first time working with TPU, and I've got to say, it was pretty great.

A friend made the file for me, using the same Huguenot cross that I have tattooed on my arm, a mark of my people from way on back to the 1600s. I made another file for my friend's stamp using an owl because it's his favorite critter. It was the first file I've ever made. Each one is 2mm thick, with 1mm being the base pad and 1mm being the design. I super glued the stamp to the back of a piece of MDF, stamped another piece of MDF, then I glued the wood pieces together to show and orient the design for stamping books. Now my best and favorite books from my library have my mark. I'm pretty proud of the whole project. It came out really well after cleaning up a little stringing.

I think this is something I could probably offer as a service. My friend's design took about an hour in tinkercad. I bet I could get better at it. I think a two pack like I made for myself and my friend could be done for around $50 plus shipping. I wonder if I should market that ability and get a little more crypto side gig running... Any takers?

Thanks for reading and keeping up! Til next time, y'all be good.
