I read a great post on Friday by @livinguktaiwan who posts a #chit-chat friday post whose subject this week was based on the #photo-essay 's community theme of 'red', so thought I'd join in the fun.

I simply typed 'red' into Google photos and this is a selection from the past 10 years of what it came up with.

First up, fireworks. Fireworks always make great photos, with vivid explosions against a blackened night sky, even with a poor phone camera. This particular photo was taken in Saphan Dang (Dang means 'red' in Thai) in Pathum Thani and was the finale to a huge community event to celebrate Loy Kratong. I'm not big on Thai festivals but do enjoy this annual festival in which Thai's give thanks to the water Goddess by floating lanterns, laden with gifts on the local rivers and lakes.

Autumn leaves maybe a strange theme for this next photo as Thailand has but two seasons; Hot and hotter! But I took this at my local fitness park in Bangkok in 2019 where the trees had decided to shed their leaves which had changed colour to various hues of crimson.

This next photo was taken at a family party on the beach where I stumbled across this abandoned boat, its vivid red paintwork left to fade in the harsh sunshine.
There is a possibility, of course, that the boat wasn't abandoned. There is often a blurred line in Thailand between abandoned and 'still in use but shagged'!

We do like our chillies in Thailand. The hotter and spicier, the better. These chillies were being dried outside in the sunshine by the mother-in-law ready in a traditional wicker basket, ready to use in the kitchen. Of course, it would be much eaiser to pop down to Tesco and buy some ready-dried chillies for very little money!

The famous red envelope with money inside, given throughout the Chinese speaking world as gifts to celebrate Chinese New Year, as well as other auspicious events. This is one I was given last year by one of my pupils who is just 7 years old. Blesssssssssss. Twenty baht, or around 50c (USD). Stingy little git. I happen to know he gets $10 a week in pocket money. I'll have word before next year.

Finally. At the Nevis range ski resort in Scotland with the wife in Winter 2017, there was me trying to get a picture of the wife when this couple, wearing huge red anoraks, photobombed me. Anyone would think it was cold... I'm always suspicious of couples wearing matching clothing, I blame the Koreans for this trend.

This final, bonus photo is one that I've posted before and will be the subject of my 2 HiveSBI giveaway. All you have to do is post a link in comments to the post it was orginally posted in OR tell me what the bracket that you can see in the picture is used to hold up.

I'm not a fan of constantly reminiscing, but sometimes, it's nice to look back. If nothing else, for a nice memory jog and initiatives like this are the perfect vehicle for doing just that.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend and getting relaxed and recharged for the week ahead.

Best wishes to all and thank you for dropping by.
