So on this very day, I had a traditional wedding occasion to attend later in the evening. I woke up with an almost empty wardrobe, by that I mean that most of the native/traditional dresses I had in my wardrobe I had either outgrown them just a little bit or they just weren't the right fit for this occasion. Thankfully I had a sewing machine around, and a few piece of materials I didn't use up yet. I woke up that beautiful day telling myself I needed a new outfit for this occasion, nothing too complex or discomforting, just something very simple, comfortable and easy to move around with.

One of my mommy auntie daughter came to visit me last week and she said that she will be glad if I make her a dress I have this Kampala at home that I've used it to make two of my cousin cloth actually I wanted to use the remain fabric to make a short and dansiki top for myself so I have no choice just to use the fabric to make her something unique for her.
DIY on how I made sexy straight gown with side pleating for my cousin
by @marylove1
Today I will love to share this tutorial on how I made this beautiful straight Ankara gown with side pleating for my cousin. I made this gown with 4 yards of Ankara fabric and 2 yards of lining With zipper for the back she was supposed to buy a plain material for the side pleating but she said she didn’t have money and she wanted the styles the funny part is that while cutting the material I thought of using the lining to make the pleating I double the lining and it came out beautiful 🤩.

I am so excited to share with you all how I made my stylish corporate gown. It all started when I was going through my wardrobe and realised I didn't have enough corporate wear for church so I decided to make one for myself. I went to the market to source fabric and bought a crepe fabric. When I got home, I discovered it was too light and decided to add a lining to it. I went ahead to purchase a stretch lining which turned out to be a poor choice for the crepe. Then came the part that humbled me, fixing the invincible zipper🥲. I actually wanted it to sit so flat and pretty, I had to take my time sewing it and also did some losing and resewing. If you have ever battled with an invincible zipper, please share your tips and tricks🤗. The sewing process was stressful but I pulled through, and also learnt new things. I'll be walking you through the steps I used in creating this beautiful piece.
