Ja . . . , ich schau leider viel zu oft in den Himmel. Nicht wegen der religiösen Ansicht obwohl ich verstehen kann, warum man früher dachte: das muss Gott sein, sondern eher der Faszination Universum wegen. Die Sonne ist das zentrale Gestirn am Himmel, von ihr hängt alles Leben auf der Erde ab. Diese überragende Bedeutung war den Menschen seit Alters her bewusst. Viele frühere Kulturen verehrten sie als Gottheit.
Yes . . . . I look up at the sky far too often. Not because of the religious view although I can understand why people used to think: this must be God, but more because of the fascination universe. The sun is the central star in the sky on which all life on earth depends. People have always been aware of this outstanding importance. Many earlier cultures revered her as a deity.

In der Religion der Germanen galten die Sonnenfeste wie Mittsommerfest und Mitwinterfest als hohe Feiertage. Noch heute sind diese Feste fester Bestandteil unserer Kalender z.b.: Mittsommerfest werden die Feierlichkeiten zur Sommersonnenwende genannt und ist noch heute für uns Sommeranfang 21. Juni.

Betrachtet man die Sonne aus dem Weltraum, erscheint sie weiß. Ihre gewohnte gelbe Farbe erklärt sich durch den Einfluss der Erdatmosphäre. Je länger der Weg ist, den die Sonnenstrahlen auf ihrem Weg durch die Atmosphäre zurücklegen, desto mehr blaues Licht wird herausgestreut. Die tief stehende Sonne erscheint deswegen stark rötlich.
If you look at the sun from space, it appears white. Their usual yellow colour is explained by the influence of the earth's atmosphere. The longer the distance the sun's rays travel through the atmosphere, the more blue light is scattered out. The low sun therefore appears strongly reddish.

Die Sonne durchwandert derzeit ein etwa 30 Lichtjahre großes Gebiet, das wegen seiner erhöhten Dichte Lokale Wolke oder Lokale Flocke genannt wird.
