Today I really felt like drawing—but specifically drawing characters. So why not draw some Splinterlands characters? That’s always a great idea, and it’s such a vast universe with tons of diverse characters and a wide variety of shapes and colors. The first thing I did was look for two characters I really liked. The ones I chose were Astral Entity and Mimosa Nightshade.
Hoy tenía muchos deseos de dibujar, pero de dibujar personajes. Así que, ¿por qué no dibujar unos personajes de Splinterlands? Eso siempre es muy buena idea, y es un universo muy, muy amplio, con muchos personajes diversos y variedad de formas y colores. Lo primero que hice fue buscar dos personajes que me gustaran mucho. Estos personajes elegidos fueron Astral Entity y Mimosa Nightshade.
The first thing I did was sketch the scene. I wanted both characters facing off in battle, showcasing their powers and most powerful attacks. My goal was to create a harmony of colors between the two, while still emphasizing each character’s individual strength. I sketched it on paper with pencil to get a general idea of the illustration I had in mind—although I ended up making a few changes to Mimosa Nightshade’s outfit, adding a belt. Overall, I was really, really happy with the sketch.
Lo primero que hice fue realizar un boceto. Quería a ambos personajes enfrentándose en batalla, donde se mostraran sus poderes y sus ataques más poderosos. Quería lograr una armonía de colores entre los dos personajes, pero a la vez enfatizar la fuerza personal de cada uno. El boceto lo hice en papel con lápiz, para obtener una idea general de la ilustración que tenía, aunque al final terminé haciéndole algunos cambios a la vestimenta de Mimosa Nightshade, agregándole un cinturón. En general, estuve muy, muy contento con el boceto.

Astral Entity, as its name suggests, is an astral being—a celestial light creature that glides through different dimensions. Its power comes from the shadows and the very ether itself. It’s a monster that can easily evade many melee attacks, making it a highly strategic option on the battlefield.
Astral Entity, como su nombre lo indica, es una entidad astral, un ser de luz celeste que se desliza a través de distintas dimensiones. Su poder proviene de las sombras y del mismo éter. Es un monstruo que puede evadir fácilmente muchos ataques cuerpo a cuerpo, siendo una opción muy estratégica en el campo de combate.

Mimosa Nightshade was once a poor, lonely little girl. Her story is a symbol of struggle and the discovery of power. She possesses Summoner abilities, with powers of coercion and manipulation—she can even control the mind.
Mimosa Nightshade era una pequeña niña pobre que vivía en soledad, y su historia es símbolo de lucha y conocimiento del poder. Tiene habilidades de invocadora, con poderes de coerción y manipulación; puede también controlar la mente.
Returning to my sketch and the battle between these two characters, it was time to create the linework for my drawing. I always do this using a pen. Once I have all the lines in place, I simply erase the pencil sketch and take a photo of the drawing with my phone.
Regresando a mi boceto y al combate de estos dos personajes, era el turno de crear las líneas de mi dibujo. Para eso, las hago siempre usando un bolígrafo. Cuando tengo todas las líneas, simplemente borro mi boceto a lápiz y le tomo una fotografía al dibujo con mi teléfono.
To color my illustration, I’ll definitely use Ibis Paint. This blend of traditional and digital allows me to add those gradients on the galaxy body of the Astral Entity. Thanks to Ibis Paint’s automatic line import, the workflow is very fast, and it feels great to digitally color drawings I originally made in traditional media.
Para colorear mi ilustración, sin dudas usaré Ibis Paint. Esta mezcla de tradicional y digital me permite dar esos degradados en el cuerpo de galaxia que tiene la Entidad Astral. Gracias al importe de líneas automático de Ibis Paint, el flujo de trabajo es muy rápido y se siente muy bien poder colorear en digital dibujos que hice en tradicional.
The coloring process was quite long because I wanted to use lots and lots of gradients and stars. I really liked how the Astral Entity turned out—especially the little stars all over its body and the eyes, which I think look really, really good. As for our summoner Mimosa Nightshade, I love how her outfit turned out and the summoning power that emanates from her powerful fists. This is the first time I’ve made two Splinterlands characters interact, and honestly, I really enjoyed both the process and the final result. I think I’ll draw more battles like this between Splinterlands characters. If you have any ideas for a future combat, I’d love to read them in the comments.
El coloreado fue un proceso bastante largo porque quería usar muchos, muchos degradados y estrellas. Me gustó mucho cómo quedó la Entidad Astral, sobre todo las estrellitas por todo el cuerpo y los ojos—creo que se ven muy, muy bien. En cuanto a nuestra invocadora Mimosa Nightshade, amo cómo quedó su ropa y el poder de invocación que emana de sus poderosos puños. Esta es la primera vez que hago interactuar a dos personajes de Splinterlands y la verdad, creo que me gustó mucho tanto el proceso como el resultado final. And as I share the final artwork once again, I say goodbye—but I’d love to know which character you think would win this battle: the summoner with countless abilities, or the interdimensional astral being? Do you think it’s a fair fight, or is the balance tilted? I believe we shouldn’t underestimate Mimosa Nightshade, but battling an incarnation of the very ether itself sounds extremely dangerous.
