It had been a very, very long time since I last had markers—probably since I was a child. I've always loved art supplies, but I've rarely had anything to draw with. So imagine my joy when I found out I’d be getting markers to color with, especially now that I’ve been taking drawing more seriously for a while.
Today I’m using them for the first time, making my first drawing with them. I hope they’ll accompany me throughout this blog.
Hacía mucho, mucho tiempo que no tenía marcadores, creo que desde que era pequeño. Siempre he amado el material de arte, pero rara vez he tenido algo con lo que dibujar, así que imagínense mi alegría cuando supe que tendría marcadores para colorear, más aún porque desde hace un tiempo me estoy tomando más en serio el dibujo.

If getting just one color was difficult, imagine the amount of possibilities that open up with these 40 colors. I’ll use them a lot and draw a lot—and maybe I’ll even improve my drawing or create really beautiful things that I truly love. I have so many possibilities for new drawings.
Si conseguir un solo color me era difícil, imagínense la cantidad de posibilidades que se abre con estos 40 colores. Los usaré mucho y dibujaré mucho, y quizás hasta mejore dibujando o logre cosas bien bonitas y que me gusten mucho. Tengo muchas posibilidades de nuevos dibujos.
The first thing I did was test them all—creating a palette with samples of every color so I could get to know them better. I drew a small square for each shade and wrote down its number and name underneath, one by one until I finished all of them. I also tried some blends and a few doodles, and even made a mini drawing of a night sky. I used a recycled sheet of paper, because materials shouldn’t be wasted unless it’s for full drawings.
Lo primero que hice fue probarlos todos, hacer una paleta con muestras de todos los colores para conocerlos mejor. Fui dibujando un pequeño cuadrito con el color y anotando debajo la numeración y el nombre, uno por uno hasta terminar con todos los colores. Además, probé algunas mezclas y algunos garabatos, también hice un minidibujo de un cielo nocturno. Estuve usando una hoja reciclada, porque no se puede desperdiciar material a no ser que sea para dibujos completos.
I really liked the yellow color section, so I felt inspired to draw something with it. And out of all the yellow things that could have come to mind, of course Pikachu was the yellow protagonist who appeared in my drawing.
Me gustó mucho la sección de colores amarillos, así que me inspiré a dibujar algo con ellos. Y de todas las cosas amarillas que se me podían haber ocurrido, por supuesto que fue Pikachu el protagonista amarillo que apareció en mi dibujo.
I really enjoyed drawing with markers—I didn’t even remember the texture they leave behind or how the colors overlap. I truly believe I can make much better drawings, but for now, this one is just right. I love this drawing just as it is. Thank you for joining me for another day of drawing.
Me gustó mucho dibujar con marcadores; ni recordaba la textura que dejaban o cómo se solapaban los colores. En verdad creo que puedo hacer dibujos mucho mejores, pero por ahora este está bien. Este dibujo me encanta así tal cual. Gracias por acompañarme un día más dibujando.
