Today I continue sharing the results of my plan to complete all the Inktobers from 2016 to the present. I’m following a personal rule: only post-its and black ballpoint pen. Last week I shared the results from the first seven days (1–7), and today I’m sharing the second week’s drawings (8–14). The idea goes beyond perfection—it’s a creative exercise to keep myself drawing. The small format and limited color help me save a lot of time and decision-making.
Hoy continúo compartiendo el resultado de mi plan de completar todos los Inktobers desde el año 2016 a la actualidad. Estoy usando como regla solo post-its y bolígrafo negro. La semana pasada compartí el resultado de los primeros siete días (1–7), y hoy les comparto los resultados de la segunda semana (8–14). La idea va más allá de la perfección: es un ejercicio creativo para mantenerme dibujando. El formato pequeño y la limitación de color me ayudan a ahorrar mucho tiempo y toma de decisiones.
The prompts for this week were: rock, broken, jump, transport, worried, scared, and tree. Seven prompts, seven post-its, and one ballpoint pen—let’s draw!
Los prompts de esta semana fueron: rock, broken, jump, transport, worried, scared y tree. Siete prompts, siete post-its y un bolígrafo: ¡a dibujar!
08 Rock
For day 8, with the prompt Rock, I drew a coastal rock formation. I’ve always been fascinated by rocks, and I’ve seen this kind of solid structure rising above sand and stone in many coastal areas. I wonder what kind of rocks they are.
Para el día 8, con el prompt Rock, dibujé una formación rocosa en una costa. Siempre me han llamado mucho la atención las rocas, y he visto en muchas costas este tipo de estructura sólida que se eleva sobre piedra y arena. Me pregunto qué tipo de rocas serán.
09 Brocken
For day 9, with the prompt Broken, I knew exactly what I wanted: a shattered glass. Simple as that—but with a hole, as if it had been hit by a bullet and fractured outward from a central circle, with cracks spreading across the entire surface. It was a fairly simple drawing to make.
Para el día 9, con el prompt Broken, sabía lo que quería: un cristal roto. Así de simple, pero con un agujero, como si hubiese sido impactado por una bala y se hubiese fragmentado alrededor de un círculo, del cual salen cuarteaduras por toda la superficie. Fue un dibujo bastante simple de hacer.
10 Jump
Day 10 was a bit more complicated. The prompt was Jump, and I definitely wanted a human figure—something tricky given the dimensions of barely an inch and a bit of paper. I had thought of a boy jumping on a trampoline, but instead, this boy came out mid-jump with his arms extended. I like the expression, and I don’t dislike the drawing at all, but in a larger format it would’ve looked even better.
El día 10 se complicó un poco más. El prompt era Jump, y definitivamente quería una figura humana, algo complicado por las dimensiones de apenas una pulgada y un poco de papel. Había pensado en un chico saltando en un trampolín, pero sin embargo me salió este chico atrapado en mitad de un salto con los brazos extendidos. Me gusta la expresión, y para nada me desagrada este dibujo, pero en un formato más grande hubiese quedado mejor.
11 Transport
Then came day 11, a day I was a bit afraid of—the prompt was Transport. I’m not good at drawing vehicles, and honestly, they’re far from my favorite things to draw. I tried to think of what best represents the concept of transport, and two options came to mind: airplane and train. I definitely went with the train. I tried to apply what I’ve learned about drawing it with a vanishing point, but again, like the previous day, the format worked against me. So I ended up with this slightly weird train—but a complete drawing, and that’s what matters.
Llegó el turno al día 11, un día que le temía: el prompt era Transport. No soy nada bueno dibujando vehículos, y la verdad no es ni de cerca de mis cosas favoritas para dibujar. Traté de pensar en lo que más representara el concepto de transporte y se me ocurrieron dos opciones: avión y tren. Definitivamente me decanté por el tren. Traté de aplicar lo aprendido de dibujarlo en un punto de fuga, pero otra vez, como con el día anterior, el formato jugó en mi contra. Así que obtuve este tren medio raro, pero dibujo completo, y eso es lo importante.
12 Worried
Day 12, and the concept Worried was already clear in my mind. A worried mind was exactly what I wanted to draw. I sketched the black profile of a human face, and inside the brain, a humanoid figure curls up with its hands on its head—perhaps the very owner of that head. I like to represent how we carry a self full of worries and torment within. I used zigzag lines in the background to express that loss of control, that fading sense of meaning.
Día 12, y el concepto Worried ya lo tenía en mente. Una mente preocupada era justo lo que quería dibujar. Dibujé el perfil negro de un rostro humano, y en el interior, en su cerebro, se acurruca con las manos en la cabeza una figura humanoide—¿el mismo dueño de la cabeza, acaso? Me gusta representar cómo tenemos a un yo lleno de preocupaciones y martirio en el interior. Usé líneas en zigzag al fondo para representar esa falta de control, esa pérdida de sentido.
13 Scared
Day 13 had the prompt Scared, and I wanted to create my own ink-and-line representation of Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream. Since I was little, that painting has always made me feel a deep sense of oppression and fear—but more than the distorted, frozen face in the scream, it’s the two distant figures that truly scare me.
El día 13 tenía por prompt la palabra Scared, y quise hacer mi propia representación a tintas y línea del famoso cuadro de Edvard Munch, El Grito. Desde pequeño, ese cuadro me transmite mucha opresión y miedo, pero sobre todo un miedo hacia esas dos figuras en la distancia, más que al rostro deformado y congelado en el grito.
14 Tree
Day 14, the last day of the week, and the prompt couldn’t have been simpler or easier to draw: Tree. I’ve drawn trees in ink before, and it’s one of my favorite things to draw—because of its simplicity and the wide variety of beautiful results you can get with just a few strokes. This wasn’t just the last drawing of the second week, it was also one of my favorite drawings so far—a result I’m truly satisfied with.
El día 14, último día de la semana, y el prompt no podía estar más simple y fácil de dibujar: Tree. He dibujado árboles a tinta antes, y es de mis cosas favoritas para dibujar por su simpleza y por la gran variedad de buenos resultados que se pueden obtener solo con unos pocos trazos. Este no solo fue el último dibujo de la segunda semana, sino que fue de mis dibujos favoritos hasta la fecha—un resultado del que estoy muy satisfecho.
