Not only do I love drawing—I also love reading. Although lately time has been scarce between hobbies and work, I can still say I was—no, I am—a voracious reader. Few books have the honor of being as universal to all readers as The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. No matter your favorite genre—be it the most melodramatic novel, the most realistic historical fiction, or the most magical medieval fantasy—at some point in your life as a reader, this book finds its way into your hands. And then, you dive into a world filled with different ways of loving.

Traveling from planet to planet with the Little Prince is like growing a little as a person. I can’t forget the man who drank to forget, the unique rose, the friend you learn to love through the passage of days, or that snake that left me with an indescribable feeling inside.

Today I want to do something different. If I’m learning to draw, why not draw the cover of one of my favorite books? I was afraid—afraid because it was my first time facing this kind of challenge, and afraid because I was drawing inspiration from an illustration by the author himself (yes, those beautiful watercolors by someone who claimed not to know how to paint, but who, had his dreams of open and closed boas not been dismissed, might have become a great artist). I began to sketch. I don’t want a masterpiece—not today. Today, I want to draw for pleasure.

I’ll be using Ibis Paint for my drawing. The first thing I did was sketch some lines to position the elements, and then I simply started drawing. I came up with the idea of making a piece without line art—because for me, someone who always draws with lines, working without line art is a challenge. And today is all about that.

I really liked how asteroid B-612 turned out, with its clean volcanoes.

The Little Prince’s face and hair—with his curly golden locks and blue eyes—turned out beautifully too. I think they manage to convey that touch of curiosity about the world, tied to innocence.

I really love that Ibis Paint records the drawing process—so I can not only enjoy it again, but also share it with all of you.

Thank you for joining me for another day of drawing.

Gracias por acompañarme un día más dibujando.
