Who remembers being paid in cash. We used to get an envelope like this with the cash inside when we dropped into the workshop on Friday afternoons. I was cleaning an old cubboard out between my exercise routines yesterday when I stumbled across this old one from 1994.
I used to number them so I could keep track of the overtime worked and make sure I got paid right. Look at all the tax taken in this one. It is almost as much as my base pay. It does not have the hours worked, but I recon this was a big week for me back then. That's probably why I hung onto it for so long.
I also remember when we started getting paid straight into our bank account, people we not happy, even when given an extra 15 minutes to our lunch break, once a week for a trip to the bank.
Some were along the line, we lost the extra bank time, all in the name of progress and efficiency.
