I got to stay in this little country town 30 odd years ago while visiting some of Dads side of the family. It was winter and freezing cold. It so nice to be here in summer this time. The long day light hours made it great for a bit of sight seeing. I thought I would remember it all like it was yesterday, but so many things I found hard to recognise. Slowly things would come back to me. I don’t know whether it is my age or maybe my head is just full of a life time of other stuff as well.

Knutsford is apparently named after King Kanute, who was the first King of the whole of England. He was supposed to have crossed or forded the Lily river in this spot with his army.

There was this huge tapestry in the information centre which is supposed to shows every street in town.

Knutsford is now home to the biggest cricket stumps in the world. I thought Australia was the only place that did this sort of crazy stuff.

We off hired our car at Manchester airport ready for a flight out on the next leg of our journey. It was the first time I had to drive the car through some sort of scanner. I suppose it is an easy way to check for damage.
