Get Rich Quick Syndrome: My Onboarding Dilemma

I don't know if other people have experienced this in the process of attempting to onboard someone to Hive. Many people I have talked to about signing up for Hive literally thought that Hive is a get-rich-quick scheme, hence their refusal to sign up. I discovered that many of my friends, especially Nigerians, love a scheme that doubles their money in a short time. They do not want to work and grow their money, even if it's a little. This culture needs to be checked.

I remember vividly that some years ago, I was pestering a friend of mine to open a Hive account; he refused, but he was telling me that he was a content creator. Okay, come and create this content on Hive and make money, he refused. It happened that he took all of his money and invested in #cbex, and all the money was lost.

I also remember a group of people, about 10 or so, for whom I organised a hive class. After lots of talking, they promised to be onboarded, but in the long run, they had a change of heart. It was later that I realised that they needed a platform that would make them rich overnight.

The one that really touched my heart was my boss in the workplace, our administration officer, who made mention of how difficult it was with him to cater to the needs of his family, hence he needed a side source of income. He agreed to open a Hive account, and he opened it. Three weeks later, he dumped the account. He didn't get the money he was looking for as fast as he had thought.

I can go on and on to mention so many people who have dumped their Hive account because it didn't give them the money they looked for. This is a very shady behaviour that doesn't sit well with the people and the country at large. I always tell them that in other countries, many people are working in 3 to 4 different places to meet up with their bills, but here we see people who are satisfied with one source of income that is barely enough to take care of them yet they're not willing to take advantage of platforms like Hive.

Many of them prefer to invest their money in Ponzi schemes. This is why most of them will still fall for scams bearing a different outlook. I once had this mentality. My Hive account was once so dormant for months because I didn't get the required results. When it dawned on me that no matter how little the income looks when it is compounded it becomes big. Notwithstanding, my recent love for writing fuelled my passion to go back to my Hive account and be serious with it. Today I am getting used to it and it has become a lifestyle that if a day passes by without making content, it seems that I have failed already.

Onboarding people who see money in everything they want to do is very difficult. This has been my major challenge: getting people to join the Hive blockchain.
