Some years back, precisely three years ago, I was introduced to the Hive blockchain by a well-meaning friend. All my onboarding programmes and lectures were done on #Peakd, I learnt everything from the peakd dApp. I never tried any other dapps, even when I heard about others like Ecency and inleo. None of them was appealing to me, so my focus was on Peakd. At that time, one of the onboarding users started using Ecency and was saying good things about the #Ecency app and the gains she derived from it. Even with this, I was not moved; rather, I started using the Inleo frontend because of the support from #leovoter. Throughout all this time, I did not know that I was greatly missing out by not using Ecency. Last year, I cannot really recall how it happened, but I began using Ecency, and from that time going forward, other Dapps became secondary to me, which I occasionally use. Most times, you might not know how good a thing is until you give it a try. A try is enough to convince someone of how good a thing is.
What I am writing is based on experience and not as a result of a story being told to me. I have been using the Ecency app for almost two years, and I must say that it’s the best dApp ever made available on the Hive. Other dApps are mostly web apps and not a full application as obtained on ecency. As a person with fair knowledge of website development, an application functions better than a web app. Web app has some limitations that applications override. So, back to my experience with the Ecency app, when I began to use it, I experienced smoothness and easy access to the Hive blockchain’s tools. Some of the things that looked complicated in other frontends were made easy. A typical example is the ability to swap, transfer, delegate, and unstake tokens. I realized that all these could be done effortlessly and without extra charges. Moreover, the Ecency app is data effective. What do I mean? For us Nigerians, we know how costly it is to buy data; hence, it will be insensitive to use it on sites that consume data. With ecency, I can access the Hive platform with limited data.
Onboarding a new user to Hive has never been simple. With Ecency, a working email and username are enough to bring new users to the platform. I remember last year when I onboarded my colleague at workplace, she was like, “It’s easy and simple.”
Ecency waves is another aspect of the app that makes it distinctive from other frontends. Though other frontends have something similar but that of ecency stands out because of the support from other users. Users of Ecency do not only qualify for support in terms of upvotes only but also earn Ecency points. These points can be converted into fiat currency. Currently, ecency has the most active moderators on Hive. This is because of the immediate support they give to users, unlike other dapps, users find it hard to support users and when they do, it usually takes them days.
With all of this, I recommend ecency, as an app or a webpage.
