When i first saw this prompt from scifi multiverse, i was like, did @scifimultiverse purposely bring this topic for people in Nigeria to be able to share their minds and what is going on in the country, because talking about electricity,NEPA in Nigeria ehenn, I won't lie for us, i have lots to talk about and 90% of the experiences are bad.
You know electricity in my area is like playing a game of hide and seek, it's funny to you as i said hide and seek abi🤣🤣, but that's just the truth because light will always disappear when you needed it most, and reappear after you found alternative, you can see how frustrating it is. Sometimes i do ask myself that, Is like NEPA and PHCN do like to test our patients, of cause they know we have no power over them, so they do things the way they like, and honestly, we've become involuntary champions of endurance.
The way NEPA treat us especially in my street ehnnn, sometimes i got frustrated that i'll decide to just filled up my generator tank and forget that NEPA will even bring light. For you to know how worst it is, if they should bring light in the morning, it won't pass 4hours maximum, and once they take it, it will be till next day again before we can use our eyes see light again, we can only be lucky to still use the light in the night after we used it in the morning.
I remember one time like that, that NEPA decided to give us light for 8hours, that day was like we hit a jackpot, everybody was happy as if we were given money. That's because it's rare before we can see light for 8hours. That to tell you how poor things is in my area
Now let me gist you more on the funniest part , that was when we suddenly heard that our transformer cable that will connect light was stolen, not the real transformer itself oo, and this took our NEPA more than 6months before they could sort this out for us , now imagine it's the whole transformer that got stolen, how long do you think this will take? Many things are not just right when it comes to NEPA handling my area light and it's not only my area because i could hear something similar to my complain from some of my friends too.
The worst of the worstest part is the billing part, Let me share you little experience on that too, From the start of the month like between August 1 to August 7,8 we will have light very well, after August 10th, the light will become 1 day On, 1week Off till month will end. And once is getting to the end of the month like between 27th of ending of the month, they will started bringing light back regularly. And immediately month end, the next thing we will see is NEPA bill. A bills that will make me to be asking myself, do we even use this light they are bringing the bills for us.
That's just the situation of electricity in Nigeria, you will be at home and NEPA bring light and the next thing you will hear is UP NEPA shout from everybody which is not normal. But it's our country and we're used to it already.
Electricity in Nigeria is not just utility, it's part of our daily survival story.
