Life as we all know is full of ups and downs. We all have our own stuff to do as individuals. As they say, one cannot do life alone because so man is an Island and that’s very true. But in as much as no man is an island, some individuals make people want to become Islands.
There are different types of people in this our world. Some will be in your good side and others on your bad side. But one rule I hold very high in my life is that as an individual, you should be able to be responsible for your actions because that’s what it means to be an adult. If there’s one thing I hate in life, it’s people trying to justify their actions when they obviously know that they did something wrong. Or even worse, they try to gaslight you into thinking you’re the problem.
There’s actually a lot of stuff I will overlook on a normal day because I wouldn’t want to stress myself and raise my bp all because of something insignificant someone did that wouldn’t give me money or anything. And there obviously those stuff I most definitely will never overlook no matter that situation not who you are. People sometimes just do stuff to trigger you but guess what, I will stoop lower than you and meet you boot for boot because once you tolerate such stuff, people will keep doing it over and over again until you run insane.
Growing up, we were taught so much about forgiveness but guess what, offenders were not taught to not do stuff to others which will make them want to seek for forgiveness. Everyone does deserve forgiveness because God himself forgives us for our sins and it would be very inhumane of us to not want to forgive our fellow humans. No one is perfect and we are all going to step on others feet. I’m very big on forgiveness but really, some people don’t deserve forgiveness.
As for forgetting, I will forgive you but never forget what you did to me. Every time I see you, I will make a mental note to not give you that change to wrong me so much. So, I will know how to relate with you so you don’t cross your boundaries. No matter who you are, once you offend me to the extent that I’m so hurt, there’s no way I will forget. Even if we get back to being cool, that would not mean that I have forgotten what you did to me. It’s more like a gentle reminder of how you fucked me up on my end.
Forgiveness is from the heart and it’s a trait everyone should have because holding on to stuff would just constantly keep hurting you and make you lose weight.lol. But forgetting, that’s a choice, it’s up to you to always keep people the benefit of the doubt after they have given you so many reasons to not trust them. But hey, the concept of forgiving and forgetting is quite subjective and this is my humble take.
