Have We Sold Our Purpose for Profit ?

I was born into a family of business. I grew up seeing both my parents run their businesses so well and I didn’t for once think they did it entirely for money. My mom fun the biggest provision shop on the block and she had the cheapest rate. If it was for money, it would have been the other way round.  Funny enough, most people come by o ur shop not to actually buy something but to chat with my mom. She was very receptive and that even made more people pass by and buy stuff they didn’t really need just because they want to have a chat. My dad on the other hand had people running his business for him and anytime I went there, I saw how flooded the place was and the environment was just filled with joy and warmth. As I grew older, I also had the business blood in me, obviously and I started my own stuff as I grew. I’ve actually run so many businesses and every time, I felt maybe it wasn’t really my time. I kept switching from this good to the other until I actually found something I was passionate about and wanted to provide for the people.  What I’ve learnt from all these years of experience in the business world is the fact that everyone has his reason for running a business. Some one might do it for the money, another person lights do it for the impact and then another person might do it for both the money and the impact. Either way, there’s a reason for running a business obviously. These days, it’s more than obvious that majority of people run their business for the money. Imagine going to a public hospital to see a doctor and the same doctor refers you to a private hospital which belongs to them. It’s more like they can’t offer the necessary help they are supposed to offer without them trying to get extra money from you through another channel. There’s actually a lot make that proves this point if you ask me, but this is just a simple example that anyone can relate to. It’s very okay to make money from what you’re passionate about. What isn’t right is trying to rip people off all in the name of money. Some people would take your money and offer you less that you deserve which is really bad. I am in my profession because I am passionate about what I do and want to help people in my own possible way and obviously, I also need money. Because if I don’t make money, how would I survive.  Running a business can be very tricky at times and what is important is being able to strike a clear balance between your main goal and your other goals because they all matter at the end of the day. Money is important, but you’re not able to meet the needs of your target market, be ready to say bye bye to money. - - - all images belong to me. - - -
