Holiday Fever: Is There Such a Thing as Too Much?

I’m yet to meet a class of people that love holidays more than the working class. Students might try to compete but they can’t ever get close to how much workers love holidays. I for one am a huge fan of holidays because when not. For me, the best of the best holidays is the ones that go on into the weekend and that’s why I love the month of December. It feels like everywhere you turn, there’s a holiday.  Every country has holidays we celebrate either as w country or with the world at large. We can’t be up and running everyday, that’s why some holidays are dedicated for resting while others are for celebrating great events that have happened in over country years ago. Either way, we all know that the whole point of a holiday in todays world is for the purpose of resting and having fun. Monday was a holiday in Ghana dedicated to celebrating our founder, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Everyone hates Mondays so I believe this holiday falling on a Monday made our week a lot easier for us all since we were able to escape money. Honestly, I think we have enough holidays in Ghana but we could use some more just to release some stress. Maybe a week holiday to destress wouldn’t be bad because people are stressed out and tired from having to work all year round. Someone will say that the economy will be affected but honestly, this will even boost the economy because if there’s one thing we Ghanaians love, it’s having fun. Every holiday, people go out to have fun. Clubs are full, the beach is full, everywhere is just choked because everyone wants to have some fun.  If we are going out, obviously, money must be spent and so there will be a lot of money in the system. That is where and when people withdraw all the money they’ve been hiding. Once it comes to having fun, money doesn’t really matter to my people.They plan and plan well. This will be a win win for us all. Ans with this, we would obviously also get more people coming into our country to have fun with us. This will also boon the recreational industry and we will finally be able to tap into that area. At the end of the day, we the citizens benefit and the economy also does.  We all probably know the effects of stress on an individuals mental and physical health and how it can affect other people around also. I’m sitting in office right now because I need something. And the man in charge of attending to people just shouted at one lady who needed help in-front of everyone. She literally didn’t even know what was going on and needed help. And the best way he could help her was to shout at her. I met her outside crying. Now, imagine this man having some holiday to rest to release stress from work, he won’t be this bitter to people who he’s supposed to help.
