Modesty: Beyond Fashion, Beyond Trends

I happened to come across bathos quote sometime ago and it said ‘The great charm of all power is modesty’. It had me thinking about what it really meant to be modest. For as long as I can remember, I had known modestly to be about one’s appearance- how you dress and what you look like.  Yes, modesty can also be defined as one’s appearance. They say dress how you want to be addressed and that’s very true. How you dress speaks volumes about you. You can’t wear a bikini to the bank, obviously. But it goes beyond that. I don’t think I have to speak much about. Your take home should be to appear how you want to be addressed. Moving on, there are different sides to modesty. Aside your appearance, modesty can also being being humble or not being proud. We’ve met people who are too loud and proud of themselves. They call it being self confident but we call it being too much. You don’t always need to make noise or speak all the time to announce your presence. Let your silence talk for your sometimes. How we carry ourselves speaks volumes about us. I understand that people will say you should ge yourself. But as you’re bong yourself, know how to carry yourself because it’s very important.  In addition to these, modesty could also mean being moderate. You don’t need to put on extra make up to make us know that you’re also there. Less they say is more and this should apply in all parts of our lives. Let’s learn to live in moderation and not over do everything. Unless it’s necessary, learn to be minimal in all you do. Forget about the heart, no one sees what’s in your heart. Everything you do physically, people see and people talk. Most people don’t care about what is in your heart because we see who you are outwardly before we even get close to you. Infact, who you are outwardly is even what propels people to get to know you and what is in your heart.  In summary, modesty is all about being demure.
