If there’s one thing my generation loves, it’s the easy way out. Most people today don’t want to put in any effort in doing anything or achieving something for themselves. Instead, they want to be handed everything on a silver plater and being fed with a silver spoon.

Finding a job in todays Ghana actually isn’t child play. They told us all we had to do was go to school and after, we’d have so many job offers to choose from. But no one told us that we’d grow up to find out that there were really no jobs waiting for us and finding a job wasn’t as easy as it was made to look.
One thing about my generation is that we all want to look fly. Most people’s goal is to be in a fully air conditioned room giving orders to people but don’t want to pass through the processes that lead you to that fully air conditioned room. Making it to the top us undoubtedly hard, no doubt about that and it’s high time we all came to terms with that for the good of us all.

Speaking of job, I always say that those jobs we deem to be for priory who are not educated and all are actually the jobs that pay. It’s funny how most people that that our mason and other people having blue colour jobs aren’t trained and are just doing those things to survive. If most of us knew that that was where the actual money is , I bet we’d all do away with the whole notion of having a fully air conditioned office to ourselves.
Jobs that require manual labour pay. Most of my friends from back at the university have day jobs and night job, even weekend jobs in addition to that. And there’s a high likelihood that one of those jobs is either mason work, carpentry or even being a mechanic. You’d see them not looking so aesthetic as you but their pockets are most definitely heavier than yours in your fully air conditioned room. I have a blue collar job and I am not ashamed of that because i know what is in there.

Learning some of these skills isn’t that difficult. You could either go to school to learn it or just enrol as an apprentice with someone already in that field and in less than a year or two, you’re good to go. To me, most of the youth should actually be encouraged to divert more to blue collar jobs instead of looking to land a white collar job with a not so good salary.
