Overnight Fame: Gift, Curse, or Both?

In our world today, everyone wants to be famous. It’s either they try so hard to be celebrities or influencers for no reason whatsoever. For most people, it’s all about the attention. When you look at two celebrities or influencers, it’s very easy to differentiate those who are in it for the impact or other gain from those that just what attention.  I’ve seen the lengths people will to on this social media of ours just to get noticed and sometimes in left in shock at how someone can be so desperate for attention. People can just open their phone cameras and start to record themselves crying, or pranking their parents or even doing some very risky stuff which could land them in the hospital. And every time, I’m left in awe at how far some of us will go just to be noticed by others. I always tell my friends that I’d rather whoever is going to disgrace themselves in the name of fame go back to their homes because there’s always love at home instead of going to there to disgrace themselves over views and clout. Fame comes in different ways and different forms and to whom much is given, much is expected. I’ve come to understand that people who are famous are where they are for two reason. Either they did something good or they did something bad. There’s no two ways about that. And with each of them, you’d have to work so hard to keep up sometimes if it’s fake.  I believe that fame can come to anyone. It’s just a matter of people approving or disapproving you and you’d be all over the internet. But it’s only the genuine ones that stay in the system for long. People love growth, consistency and impact. Even people who became famous in a bad way can keep being famous if they are consistent with getting the attention of people. It’s not that difficult to please people of today. Personally, I see fame to be a normal thing because it can come to anyone. If I woke up today and found out that I’m famous for whatever reason( which I hope would be a good one by the way), I’d still live the way I’ve always lived, like a normal person. My family can handle themselves in this situation because I trust them to know what to do in such times. Obviously, like any sensible person would do, I’d make sure to make good use of the opportunity by building my network, securing partnerships and making impact. That way, I’d always stay at the top and others would also benefit from my fame.  What is the essence of fame of you can’t help those who need help. Fake gives you the platform to solicit for help from all kinds of people regarding any impactful project you want to embark and thanks to your fame, it’s hard for such people to say no to you. So, I’d leverage on the opportunity to make us all win at the end of the day. - - - all images belong to me. - - -
