The Beauty in Imperfection: Why All Art Matters

Art, just like music is a way to the heart. In some contexts, people say art reaches the soul even faster than music but to me, it all depends on the individual. For so long, I’ve grown to love the whole concept of art. It all started from admiring small paintings at home and other tourist sites to going to bigger museums to experience the beauty of art. Art has different purposes and importance in our world today. In some settings, some piece of art is a reflection of history or a representation of history, in other settings are is used to demonstrate a point or even to say the words we can’t speak out loud.  I have dozens of pictures of artwork from various individuals and each piece of art, carries a different message with it. Art is just like business or fashion, everyone has their way of doing things and each person also has their target market and the result the hope to achieve at the end of the day. Some art is meant to put a smile on your face, others are meant to not just impact your face but to touch your soul, cause you to shiver and take you into deep thought. When you compare these two scenarios, which do you think would be easier? To me, putting a smile on someone’s face isn’t that difficult and shouldn’t require much. When it comes to art, a small painting of a beautiful flower with attractive colors can get anyone smiling and happy for the rest of the day, then there’s that one piece of art you wouldn’t understand after your first look and even the second. You’d probably need a third and fourth look and a week of tossing and turning in your bed. And then it finally hits you, and you start to appreciate it more.  This doesn’t mean the artwork which causes you to smile instantly is lesser than the one which took you a week to appreciate. What would be the whole point of art of there aren’t variations. Every artist has a mind of his own and his own goals. Someone’s art may be expensive yet not one that suits you, another persons art may catch your attention yet it would probably cost less than what you think it is worth.  To me, art means a lot. Whether expensive or not and there’s no such thing as bad art because there’s no way the soul can lie. Art should be appreciated and viewed an others thoughts, feelings, experiences and even history to some extent. Not forgetting the fact that art brings people from all over the world together. With art, are one. Art can never be bad if it’s meant to impact your life positively. I haven’t come across any piece of art I’d consider as bad but I’m yet to heart of such. But from my point of view, art is from soul and if there is a better way to get to know someone, it should be through art. - - - all images belong to me. - - -
