The Tolerance Threshold.

My life currently runs on the to each his own principle. Why because I’ve come to understand that in this journey of life, you’re bound to meet millions of people and each and everyone of them would have their own views, choices and perspectives on various issues.  Some of these individuals principles and opinions may match with yours while others will differ. That doesn’t mean that life should stop going on or they should be beheaded because they have different views from you. Life in itself is meant to be simple. As I child I learnt a proverb in primacy school which I always use. It says one man’s meat is another man’s poison. And that just how life is. There’s no way you will tell me that everyone on this earth will agree with you on something. You’d meet so many people with diverse opinions on the same issue. That is actually what makes life fun. To be able to hear other’s perspectives, experience them and even learn from them if possible. I’ve met so many people in my life, some just passing by, some friends and some acquaintances. And I can say that all these people have in one way or the other had different opinions from mine on different issues. And on most days, I learnt from these encounters while on other occasions we had to leave it half discussed just to prevent things from going bad. I’m someone who loves to argue and on most days, I know it’s bad sometimes because even when I know I’m losing, I still try to win. Maybe I should be a lawyer. Lol.  This doesn’t mean I’m always right or everyone is supposed to agree with me on something. We agree to disagree on many things and that’s what makes us unique. I respect everyone’s opinion but there’s just some opinions I’d rather die than respect. Some time ago, I met with some friends and during our chit chat, one guy said that someone like me wouldn’t get a husband because I’m too focused in life and he won’t even want to marry someone like me. He then pointed to another lady we were with saying that he wants someone like her because she wants to get married and she will submit to her husband and bla bla bla. Funny enough, this guy isn’t someone who even has a chance with me and so it was funny for him to even think of something like this and even had the audacity to say it. To make things worse, another guy also agreed with him and I wasn’t having it. And so I gave them my piece and left. The fact that you want a women who doesn’t aim for success doesn’t mean I should water myself down for you. And yes, you won’t marry someone like me because you can’t even have someone like me.  I respect everyone’s opinion but this wasn’t even ten first time these guys have tried to say something like that to me in the midst of people. They probably felt intimidated and were trying to make me feel uncomfortable or bad- I really don’t know what they thought. That day, I realised, I was done with toxic people like this because I had been tolerant for so long and I was fed up at that point. At the end of the day, I just made sure to stay far away from these group of people people I wants about to be a pick me just because of some basic individuals. - - - all images belong to me. - - -
