Health they say is wealth and honestly, this can’t be overemphasised. There’s a Ghanaian adage that say, if your enemy will get back at you, it will be through sickness. The human body is a very complicated one and as such, ewe need to take extra care of ourselves so as to not make our enemies happy.

Health isn’t only about physical well being but also mental well being. Good health means that every aspect of the individuals life is in good shape. For me, I didn’t grow up in a community where people cared about mental health. Once you’re able to get up from bed and go about daily activities, you’re considered as a healthy and fit person.
As I grew up, I started to learn and expand my knowledge and that’s how I learnt that there was more to human well being that just physical health. Gone were the days when no one bothered to even visit a therapist when their mental health was bad. Today, I’m really happy to see that a lot has changed and people are making a mental note to pay more attention to their mental health.
I believe that the mind is a very important part of the body and once you’re not mentally okay, even your physical health with start to slack. I’ve been there before and I speak from experience. Mental health is as important a physical health and I make sure to always pay attention to both aspects for my well being. I’ve seen purple close to me struggle so much with one aspect of their health and that ended up affecting their entire health. It was really bad and I have learnt a lot from these circumstances.

As an exercise freak, I always make sure to exercise and kept my body active, stay hydrated, say a well balance diet, rest more and also take my drugs when necessary to ensure I’m physically healthy. Mentally, I try as much as possible to reduce overthinking, manage my blood pressure, see the therapist when necessary and it waste my energy on people who will kill me before my time. I know myself to be an overthinking and a very emotional person and this combination isn’t a good one. With this, I’ve learnt to channel my energy where it will be reciprocated to prevent any unnecessary issue from ruining my mental health. It can be hard at times but this is for me and no one else, so why not.

Life can get very busy at times for us all to the extent that we start to forget to even care for ourselves. That doesn’t mean we should continue that way, it’s never too late to start something and so the time for us to start prioritising our health is now. Without good health , we can’t even enjoy this life thing we are working so hard to enjoy. This is why it’s important to do anything possible on this earth to stay healthy. Because your health, is your wealth.
