When I started playing splinterlands all those years ago I made a terrible mistake.
I was there with very little money trying to build a complete beta deck and trying to build a fully gold one.
I was a terrible mistake that cost me dearly over the past few years. I have lots of beta cards but only a couple of them maxed out because gold was so much more expensive than regular.
If i had fully focused on maxing cards and sold the gold ones that i have then i would have a full beta deck and would have been so much more competitive for all the years since then.
I was a champions player way back when the leagues started but dropped way off the pace until chaos legion dropped and i was able to max a lot more cards and become a lot more competitive.
Now it's not all bad. I do have some very strong and very rare cards but they are almost impossible to max out now since they are so rare. It's frustrating having a lot of level seven gold summoners and not being able to use them to full advantage in champions leagues. It costs matches not being able to unleash all abilities form a monster when you have the monsters maxed out.
It isn't all bad though as i have been able to enter a lot of gold card tournaments where the competition is a lot weaker.
I did receive a decent SPS airdrop a my cards were high in collection power. And I do really love them after all these years. Life is what you make of it.
I've been spending a lot of my time on splinterlands playing tournaments since there is a handy way to earn more funds and buy more cards which i've been doing but the most lucrative and easiest wins are in the gold ones.
I've been doing fairly well but it's time to start building a stronger gold deck and do even better.
I've taken advantage of what are ridiculously cheap chaos legion cards to build a full set of gold summoners.
And can add them to my old beta summoners.
Which i am going to max out someday when we have another crazy bull run for Hive or SPS. Because it will take that to buy them up at around $1000 to finish off the set. Not easy at the moment with the way markets have gone.
What is cheap however are chaos gold cards.
There are great bargains to be had in the markets right now as some players are dumping gold cards and I'm buying them up one by one.
Just looking at the markets every day and you see a few new cards down at the sale section.
I've bought five or six already this week but today's will be Venari Scout at under $5
And Shadow Snitch for the same again.
The funny thing is that most of these gold cards aren't hugely more expensive than their regular foil versions right now so if i buy the gold and sell the regular it's only costing me $1-$2 to swap for the far more impressive gold version.
I'm doing a few every week and waiting for the regular version to sell and build up my bankroll again but it will be nice to improve my gold collection for now and then hopefully pick up a few of the older cards along the way and finish off that set too.
