*Club Colombia* is a well-known name in the country, the leading brewery nationwide and the first brand you'll inevitably try when you visit this beautiful nation. I've had *Club Colombia* on countless occasions and compared all its varieties, although I realize I haven't written about it here yet—another task pending, haha. However, this is not the time to play a game of tasting. Today we are going to talk about a lovely evening I had the pleasure of attending and enjoying until late into the night with a few *Club Colombia Doradas*. > *Club Colombia* es un nombre muy sonado en Colombia, la empresa cervecera por excelencia a nivel nacional y la primera marca que es imposible evitar probar cuándo visitas este hermoso país.
Yo he tomado *Club Colombia* en innumerables oportunidades y, comparado todas sus versiones, aunque hasta ahora me doy cuenta que no he escrito sobre ello aquí, una tarea más pendiente jajaja.
Sin embargo esta no será la oportunidad para jugar a las catas, hoy vamos a hablar de una bonita velada a la que tuve la oportunidad de acudir y disfrutar hasta bien entrada la noche junto a unas cuantas *Club Colombia Doradas*.
I am the type of person who, when possible, even takes vacations from the vacations. That is exactly what happened recently. I was enjoying paradise in Guatemala and decided to take a little trip within the area. I had to make a quick visit to Medellin to renew my tourist visa in Guatemala, and there I met some relatives who were getting ready to attend a formal event at a luxurious hotel in the city center. Beyond the fuss everyone was making about my lack of tact and formality, dressing in sneakers and jeans to go to the event, everyone was very happy to have me there at this emotional celebration commemorating a very significant experience for important members of my family and one in which I had indirectly been a part in the past. > Yo soy el tipo de persona que, cuando puede, se toma incluso vacaciones de las vacaciones jajaja exactamente eso fue lo que pasó hace poco, estaba yo disfrutando del paraíso en Guatemala y decidí hacer un viajecito dentro del mismo.
Tuve que hacer una visita rápida a Medellin, para renovar mi visa como turista en Guatemala, y allá me encontré con algunos familiares que se preparaban para asistir a un evento formal, en un lujoso hotel del centro de la ciudad.
Mas allá del alboroto que todos estaban haciendo por mi falta de delicadeza y formalismo, vistiéndome con tenis y jeans para ir al evento, todos estaban muy contentos de contar conmigo en esa, una celebración emotiva que conmemoraba una experiencia muy significativa para importantes miembros de mi familia y de la cual yo, indirectamente, había sido parte en el pasado.

The hotel in question was the **Diez**, a well-looked-after and elegant boutique hotel. With a very expensive parking service for non-guests, like us, ha ha ha. We were welcomed with great attention and turned out to be the first to arrive, despite being about 20 minutes late. I had forgotten that Latin America works very differently when it comes to this type of formal reception, ha ha ha. I love being the first to arrive because I can take photos of all the spaces without having to worry about people or getting in anyone's way. Also because I can chat quietly with the waiters and ask them about the service and the menu. In this occasion, I observed how they served sangria prepared on site to welcome those of us who were arriving. I hadn't thought about sangria in months, and signs of my return to Spain were beginning to appear everywhere, so to divert my attention from that, I decided to start researching beers instead. 😜 > El hotel en cuestión era el **Diez**, un hotel boutique bastante bien cuidado y elegante. Con un servicio de parking bien costoso para los que no eran huéspedes, como nosotros jajaja.
Nos recibieron con muchas atenciones y resultamos ser los primeros en llegar, a pesar de tener unos 20 minutos de retraso. Me olvidaba ya que Latinoamérica funciona de forma muy diferente en este tipo de recepciones formales jajajaja.
A mí me encanta llegar de primera porque puedo tomar fotos de todos los espacios sin tener que preocuparme por la gente ni de estorbar a nadie. También porque puedo ponerme a hablar tranquilamente con los camareros y preguntarles sobre el servicio y el menú.
En este caso pude ver como servían una sangría preparada por ellos en el lugar para ir agasajando a los que íbamos llegando, hace meses que no pensaba en una sangría, las señales del regreso a España comenzaban a aparecer por todas partes, así que para desviar mi atención de ello, decidí comenzar a investigar mas bien sobre las cervezas. 😜

# Beer for the day: ## Club Colombia Dorada - Helles Larger 4,7%
The waiters were following very precise instructions from a young man in charge. I was surprised by how young they all were, which did not detract from their professionalism, but I am sure that the coordinator could not have been older than 24. I spoke to him and he told me that beer was not included in the drinks for our event, but that they had an open bar service until 2 a.m. where they could provide it, at an additional cost, for whatever we wanted to order. Several of us in our large group of attendees wanted beer, so when we explained to the supervisor that we would be ordering it constantly throughout the night, they assigned us a waiter who would keep up with our beer orders. Perhaps we seemed less sophisticated for drinking beer and not something else, but we were in the mood to celebrate and enjoy ourselves, not pretend to be something we're not, ha ha ha. > **La cerveza del día: Club Colombia Dorada - Helles Larger 4,7%**
Los chicos que estaban sirviendo las mesas seguían instrucciones muy precisas de un jovencito que estaba a cargo, me sorprendió lo joven que eran todos, algo que no le quitaba para nada lo profesional, pero estoy segura que el coordinador no podría tener mas de 24 años.
Hablé con él y me comentó que entre las bebidas incluidas en nuestro evento no estaban las cervezas, pero que disponían un servicio de bar abierto hasta las 2 am de donde podrían proporcionarlo, con un precio adicional, lo que quisiéramos ordenar.
En nuestro amplio grupo de asistentes, éramos varios que queríamos cervezas, así que al aclararle al supervisor que estaríamos pidiéndolas constantemente durante la noche, nos asignaron a un camarero que se ocuparía de mantener al día nuestra orden cervecera.
Quizá apreciamos menos sofisticados por tomar cerveza y no otra cosa, pero es que el animo estaba para celebrar disfrutando y no aparentando jajaja.

Among the beer options they offered us, Club Colombia was the one that won us over as a group, because we didn't want to bother the waiter too much when there were already a lot of other people there. It was a shame they only had Dorada, because one of my fellow diners and I prefer Roja, although I would have been happy to drink a Negra that night. But let me focus. We drank Dorada, and it was as good and light as ever. This beer lives up to its name. It has a beautiful color that invites you to drink it when it's nice and cold, and although it's a little more bitter than the other national brands, it's light enough to be a great companion for the evening and the meal. It is also a quality brand. Despite being a mass-produced beverage, it has received several awards for the care and value it brings to the local scene. Without a doubt, it is the best non-craft beer brand in the country. > Entre las opciones que nos ofrecieron de cervezas, la *Club Colombia* fue la que nos convenció de forma grupal, porque tampoco queríamos liar mucho al camarero cuando ya hubiese llegado mucha mas gente.
Una pena que solo tuvieran la *Dorada* pues uno de mis acompañantes y yo preferimos la *Roja*, aunque yo hubiese bebido muy a gusto esa noche una *Negra*. Pero mejor me enfoco, bebimos dorada y estaba tan buena y ligera como siempre.
Esta cerveza hace alusión a su nombre, tiene un bonito color que te invita a beberla cuando está bien fría y aunque es un poco mas amarga que el resto de las opciones de la competencia nacional, es lo suficientemente ligera para que nos fuese de gran compañía durante la velada y la comida.
Además es una marca de calidad, a pesar de ser una bebida elaborada de forma masiva, tiene diversos reconocimientos por el cuidado y valor que tiene en el ámbito loca. Sin duda la mejor marca de cervezas no artesanales en el país.
# The food, of course 
I can't help but tell you a little about the food they served us that night, which was extremely appetizing and very well prepared. During one of my trips to the bathroom, I noticed that there was a single chef organizing everything in the next room and a long chain of waiters who served very quickly and smoothly. The waiters who assisted him basically loaded the carts with food and served it, but the creative work was done by one man. I thought it was wonderful because the food arrived perfectly served and at the right temperature. We were served a three-course menu, very well balanced in flavor and quantity. Some people didn't finish because it was too much. I thought it was enough and, above all, fun. The starter was a kind of pork cheek tartlet that was super tender and flavorful. I liked the touch of freshness added by the tomato and guacamole they were served with. > **La comida**
No puedo evitar contarles un poco sobre la comida que nos sirvieron esa noche, estuvo sumamente apetitosa y muy bien elaborada.
Me percaté, durante una de mis excursiones al baño, que había un único chef organizando todo en el salón del al lado y una larga cadena de emplazado que servía muy ágilmente y sin inconvenientes.
Los camareros que le ayudaban, básicamente cargaban los carros con comida y la servían, pero el trabajo creativo era de un solo hombre, me pareció maravilloso, porque la comida llegaba perfectamente servida y a la temperatura indicada.
Nos sirvieron un menú de tres platos, muy bien equilibrados en sabor y bien balanceados en cantidad, hubo gente que no lo terminó porque era mucho. A mí me pareció suficiente y, sobre todo, divertido.
El entrante eran unas especies de tartaletas de carrilleras de cerdo que estaban super suaves y llenas de sabor. Me gustó el toque de frescura que le aportaban el tomate y guacamole con que iban servidas.
Then the main course turned out to be a kind of surf and turf, beef and chicken at the same time, each with its own sauce, condensing the flavor of the juices from each type of meat. I really liked that dish, it was served with a very well-made mashed potato that went perfectly with the sauces. I thought that in the end I would prefer one sauce over the other, but I couldn't decide, both managed to stand out on their own without overshadowing the other. I liked everything very much, because the light salad that accompanied it balanced the whole dish, along with the cold beers we continued to drink, of course. Club Colombia Dorada goes well with food and did not overshadow the flavors at any time, so we definitely made the best decision that night. To finish off the menu, we were served a cheesecake in a jar with orange jelly. The texture was a little more like flan than cream cheese. It was delicious. Then, some guests passed around snacks and gifts, which we ate with beer for the rest of the night. > Luego el plato principal resultó ser una especie de mar montaña, carne de ternera y pollo al mismo tiempo, cada uno con su correspondiente salsa, condensando el sabor de los jugos de cada tipo de carne.
Me gustó muchísimo ese plato, estaba servido con un puré de patatas muy bien elaborado que iba perfecto con las salsas. Pensaba que al final iba a preferir una salsa sobre la otra, pero no me pude decidir, ambas lograban resaltar en sí mismas sin opacar la otra pieza.
Todo me gustó mucho, porque además la ensalada ligera que lo acompañaba equilibrara el conjunto, junto a la frescas cervezas que seguíamos toando claro.
**Club Colombia Dorada** va bien con la comida, no opacó en ningún momentos los sabores, así que definitivamente tomamos la mejor decisión esa noche.
Para cerrar el menú nos sirvieron una tarta de queso en tarro, con gelatina de naranja, la textura era un poco más hacía la versión de un flan que de una crema de queso. Estaba rica.
Luego, algunos invitados pasaron repartiendo algunos snacks y regalitos que fuimos comiéndonos junto a la cerveza durante el resto de la noche.

Well, it wasn't just eating and drinking, of course, but that's the part of the night that interests me the most. My fault, ha ha ha. But I must make an important mention of the band that was playing live music that night, a group of guys who moved to the beat of Cuban music, reviving nostalgic songs from throughout history and including some of their own compositions. A very talented group, as Colombian musicians generally are. I enjoyed watching how skilled they were with their instruments. The charrasca always mesmerizes me, but this time the skill of the trumpet and drums kept me entertained for a long time. I will always remember the emotional moment when they said goodbye by dedicating Rubén Blades' song Amor y Control to all the physicians present, which was everyone except me 😂 and the audience was very grateful. Among tears and dancing, they said goodbye to the band to start the other music tracks that would follow the party. > **Banda de musica en vivo cubana**
Bueno no solo era comer y beber claro, lo que pasa es que esa es la parte de la noche que más me interesa a mi. Mi culpa jajaja.
Pero haré una mención importante a la banda que estuvo tocando música en vivo esa noche, unos chicos que se movían al son de la música cubana, rescatando canciones nostálgicas de toda la vida e incluyendo algunas de su propia autoría. Un grupo muy talentoso, como lo son en general los músicos colombianos.
Disfruté viendo lo diestro que eran con sus instrumentos, la *charrasca* siempre me hipnotiza pero esta vez la destreza del de la trompeta y los tambores me mantuvo entretenida mucho rato.
Siempre recordaré el emotivo momento en que se despidieron dedicándole la canción *Amor y Control* de Rubén Blades a todos los médicos presentes allí, que eran todos menos yo 🤣 los asistentes lo agradecieron mucho y entre llanto y baile se despidieron de la banda para dar inicio a las demás pistas de música que seguirían la fiesta.

Yes, the party was really getting started, and the waiters began bringing out bot
