Sounds crazy, doesn't it? And so far away! Well yeah, it's a bit of both, although not as much as it might seem. For some time now, several Hivians have had the idea of materializing the potential of Hive in their heads, but few of them have dared to carry out any real experiments. However, each step and attempt in pursuit of this end, manages to inspire many others to decide to take the leap at last and dare to bet on more. The great @buttcoins is one of these people, willing to give everything to make Hive bigger and more beautiful. Ready to invest time, space and effort to promote this blockchain that, to all of us who share the same ideal, has made us recover the illusion of being able to do things differently and much more accessible to everyone. So with such an enthusiastic premise and an almost idyllic proposal, I could not resist participating in the pilot project of what could become a part of the business model of many places around the world. Hace ya tiempo que la idea de materializar el potencial de Hive ronda la cabeza de varios Hivians, pero pocos se han atrevido a realizar experimentos contundentes. Sin embargo, cada paso e intento persiguiendo este fin, logra inspirar a muchos otros para decidirse a dar el salto al fin y atreverse a apostar por más.
El gran @buttcoins es una de estas personas, dispuestas a darlo todo por hacer Hive grande y más bonito. Dispuesto a dedicar tiempo, espacio y esfuerzo para promover esta cadena de bloques que, a todos los que compartimos el mismo ideal, nos ha hecho recuperar la ilusión de poder hacer las cosas de forma diferente y mucho más accesible para todos.
Así que con esa premisa tan entusiasta y una propuesta casi idílica, yo no pude resistirme a participar en el proyecto piloto de lo que podría convertirse en una parte del modelo de negocio de muchos lugares alrededor del mundo. Pero…

Well, first of all, life happens; and although I don't believe in destiny or in the power of an invisible divine hand, I have to accept that this whole adventure has come to me like a godsend, without looking for it, but wanting some. Wanting what? For a change of routine, a break from the everyday, a breathing space out of the huge opaque bubble I have forced myself to inhabit... (Oh, it felt so dramatic!)
Second, the Hive meet ups are a window to a great world of possibilities, where ideas, visions, projects and even joint dreams flow, which make us create beautiful friendships with potential for future collaborations.
Whenever I have attended one of these meetings, I always leave with my batteries recharged and new ideas in my hands, from the desire to resume my blog, to be part of the community moderation, to organize events or, like this last one, to go away for three months to a totally new country for me.
While I was in the middle of the last #BuzzParty in Graz, the possibility of joining the *Hive Hub Guatemala* came up, although it was all quite sudden, the proposal, which was hinted at as a joke at first, quickly gained momentum and made me think that if the opportunity was there, it made no sense to waste it. I processed it very quickly.
It was @minigunner who approached us talking about the @buttcoins project and he thought I was pulling his leg when I answered without thinking that I would love to go. It was a funny moment, because he immediately started texting @buttcoins and sending pictures like this one, telling him that @honeydue and I were excited to go all the way to Central America to collaborate with his idea.
At first the prospect of going together looked super fun, but she didn't have such an easy time getting her business together. Of course it's not easy, even if I had thought about it a few months before, I might have found it impossible, but well, times and circumstances sometimes work out and sometimes they don't. Or who knows, maybe our poses in the photo said it all in the end hahaha.
The information I had at the time was simply what @minigunner dropped to us: would you like to go work at the front desk of a hotel promoting Hive in exchange for room and food, for three months in Guatemala? Also that they would try to raise funds to cover travel expenses, that the location was nothing more and nothing less than in one of the most beautiful lakes on the planet and that the project would be developed with the help of other Hivians, trying to implement payment with hbd and the Hive debit card. 🤯 Brutal!
Something that reassured me a lot was having met the @buttcoins @myinnervoice @thebombkids family in September, during the last #HiveFest jumping into the adventure is much easier when you know who's behind it all. I managed to get a photo of one of the times we were interacting in Split and although you see little of us, it's interesting that we coincided in the same image next to @starkerz, who will also continuously participate with us in the project.

De una cambio de rutina, un descanso de lo cotidiano, un respiro fuera de la enorme burbuja opaca que me he obligado a habitar...(Eso se sintió taaan dramático xD)
Segundo, los meet ups de Hive son una ventana a un gran mundo de posibilidades, en donde fluyen ideas, visiones, proyectos e incluso sueños conjuntos, que nos hacen crear bonitas amistades con potencial de futuras colaboraciones. Siempre que he asistido a un encuentro de estos, salgo con las pilas recargadas y nuevas ideas entre manos, desde las ganas de retomar mi blog, formar parte de la moderación en comunidades, organizar eventos o, como esto último, irme tres meses a un país totalmente nuevo para mi.
Estando en medio de la última #BuzzParty en Graz, surgió la posibilidad de unirme al *Hive Hub Guatemala*, aunque fue todo bastante repentino, la propuesta, que se dejó entrever como una broma al principio, cobró fuerza rápidamente y me hizo pensar que si la oportunidad estaba allí, no tenía sentido desperdiciarla. Lo procesé muy rápido.
Fue @minigunner quien se acercó hablándonos sobre el proyecto de @buttcoins y pensó que le tomaba el pelo cuando le respondí sin pensarlo que me encantaría ir. Fue un momento gracioso, porque comenzó a intercambiar mensajes de inmediato con @buttcoins y a enviarle fotos como esta, diciéndole que @honeydue y yo estábamos entusiasmadas con la idea de ir hasta Centroamérica a colaborar con su idea. En principio la idea de ir juntas lucía super divertida, pero ella no lo tuvo tan fácil para concretar sus asuntos y unirse. Claro que no es fácil, incluso si yo me lo hubiese planteado algunos meses antes, lo hubiese encontrado imposible, pero bueno, los tiempos y las circunstancias a veces funcionan y otras no. O bueno, quien sabe si al final nuestras poses en la foto lo decían todo jajaja.
La información que tenía en ese momento era simplemente lo que @minigunner nos dejó caer: ¿te gustaría ir a trabajar en la recepción de un hotel promoviendo Hive a cambio de alojamiento y comida, durante tres meses en Guatemala? También que intentarían obtener fondos para cubrir los gastos de traslado, que la ubicación era nada más y nada menos que en uno de los lagos más hermosos del planeta y que el proyecto se desarrollaría con la ayuda de otros Hivians, intentando implementar el pago con hbd y la tarjeta de débito de Hive. 🤯 ¡Brutal!
Algo que me tranquilizó mucho fue haber conocido a la familia @buttcoins @myinnervoice @thebombkids en septiembre, durante la última edición del #HiveFest lanzarse a la aventura es mucho más fácil cuando sabes quien está detrás de todo. Logré conseguir una foto de una de las veces que estuvimos interactuando en Split y aunque se ve poco de nosotros, es interesante que coincidimos en la misma imagen junto a @starkerz, quien también participará continuamente con nosotros en el proyecto.

# Flight funding and transfer ✈️ I am almost sure that this point is the most worrying when deciding on such a sudden change, a flight to Latin America is usually expensive, especially if it is not planned well in advance, as in this case, we had only a month of anticipation. Fortunately, the team has managed to obtain a first donation of 900 HBD that has been destined to cover the expenses of my trip. The idea is to support people who join the project so that traveling to the work area is not an impediment to take part, so I think this could be presented as a proposal to @valueplan, I don't mean a proposal to carry out the whole project, but to help us Hivians to travel there and join the project, because having food and accommodation assured by @buttcoins I think it's a lot. I find that it would be interesting to invest in such a nice project, at the end we are the same members of the ecosystem working to make it bigger in a real venue. At least I feel an even greater commitment than the illusion I already had, after receiving the donation to take care of my travel expenses. This is a sign of trust from Hive users and the least we could do is to respond with numbers and results. Therefore I plan to use this community to share my experiences, progress and opinions on the development of the project. As a first sample of this I would like to share the price of the flight I got to go from Spain to Guatemala and the reimbursement received from @hivehubguatefund after buying the ticket. This refund covers almost the total cost of the best value for money flight I was able to get. It's a direct flight, round trip and operated by a Spanish company in which I had some accumulated miles that also helped me to reduce the cost a little bit. A great relief to save 10 hours of travel between layovers and waits almost impossible to avoid with other airlines. The plan was to choose the dates within the 90 days of the tourist permit, maybe about 85 to be sure to meet the deadline, but looking at prices I found it very expensive to adjust to it, being that a couple of weeks later the price decreased substantially. Thanks to the flexibility I can have right now, I decided to stay a total of 16 weeks, considering that I have to go to the foreigners office to request an extension of my stay. The paperwork is not to anyone's liking, but I am not afraid of it either. **Total price was 957.90 HBD, to which I could deduct 36.34 HBD with accumulated miles, resulting in a payment of 921.56 HBD; so the financing received has covered 96% of the costs of the main transfer.** The rest of the travel I have not yet calculated, but I will comment as I move through this adventure, in case it is of help to any other Hivian who wants/can join this project. What I have not worried about is the transfer from the airport in Guatemala City to the location of the hotel where I will be staying as a volunteer, in San Marcos de la Laguna, because @buttcoins will be waiting for me at the airport, which is wonderful because according to what I have seen it is a bit of a hassle, but not impossible to move there by public transport. So I'll save it for when I go touristing without suitcases to carry around.

> **Financiación de vuelo y tarslado local** Estoy casi segura que este punto es el que más puede llegar a preocupar al momento de decidirse por un cambio tan repentino, un vuelo hasta Latinoamérica suele ser costoso, sobre todo si no se planea con suficiente antelación, como en este caso, que teníamos un mes solo de anticipación.
Por suerte, el equipo de ha movido y ha logrado obtener una primera donación de 900 HBD que se ha destinado a cubrir los gastos de mi viaje. La intención es ayudar a las personas que se unan al proyecto para que trasladarse hasta la zona de trabajo no sea un impedimento para participar, por lo que creo que esto podría presentarse como una propuesta a @valueplan, no me refiero a una propuesta para realizar todo el proyecto, sino a la ayuda para que los Hivians podamos desplazarnos hasta allí y colaborar, pues teniendo asegurado comida y alojamiento por @buttcoins creo que es bastante. Me parece que sería interesante invertir en un proyecto así de bonito, al final somos los mismos miembros del ecosistema trabajando para hacerlo mas grande en un espacio real.
Al menos yo siento un compromiso aún mayor que la ilusión que ya tenía, tras haber recibido la donación para atender mis gastos de viaje. Esto es una muestra de confianza por parte de los usuarios de Hive y lo mínimo que podríamos hacer es responder con números y resultados.
Por ello tengo pensado usar esta comunidad para ir compartiendo mis vivencias, avances y opiniones sobre el desarrollo del proyecto. Como primera muestra de ello me gustaría compartir el precio del vuelo que conseguí para ir desde España a Guatemala y el reembolso recibido de @hivehubguatefund después de haber comprado el billete.
Este reembolso cubre casi el total del mejor vuelo calidad/precio que logré conseguir. Es un vuelo directo, ida y vuelta y operado por una compañía española en la que tenía algunas millas acumuladas que me sirvieron también para reducir un poquito el costo. Un gran alivio ahorrarme 10h de viaje entre escalas y esperas casi imposibles de evitar con el resto de compañías.
La intención era elegir las fechas dentro de los 90 días del permiso de turista, quizá unos 85 para estar seguros de cumplir con el plazo, pero mirando precios me pareció muy costoso ajustarme a ello, siendo que un par de semanas después el precio disminuía considerablemente. Gracias a la flexibilidad que puedo tener justo ahora, decidí optar por quedarme un total de 16 semanas, teniendo en cuenta que debo ir a la oficina de extranjeros para solicitar ampliar mi estadía. Los trámites no son del agrado de nadie, pero tampoco es que les tenga miedo.
**El precio total fue de 957,90 HBD, a lo que pude descontarle 36,34 HBD con millas acumuladas, resultando en un pago de 921,56 HBD; por lo que la financiación recibida ha cubierto el 96% de los gastos del traslado principal.**
El resto de desplazamientos aún no los he calculado, pero lo iré comentando según me vaya moviendo por medio de esta aventura, por si es de ayuda para algún otro Hivian que quiera/pueda unirse a este proyecto. De lo que me he despreocupado es del traslado desde el aeropuerto en Ciudad de Guatemala hasta la ubicación del hotel en donde estaré alojándomelo como voluntaria, en San Marcos de la Laguna, pues @buttcoins me estará esperando en el aeropuerto, algo maravilloso porque según lo que he visto es un poco engorroso, aunque no imposible moverse en transporte publico hasta allá. Así que me lo guardo para cuando ande de turisteo sin maletas encima.

# My plans and preparation 👜💻💸 As you can see, not only do I have my bags ready for the next three months, but I also have with me all the goodies I've gotten with the Hive logo, so it's clear what I'm going to and who they can go to asking about what that is hahahaha. I don't forget to always carry with me something from @worldmappin I know the adventurers that may be in the hotel will love the map idea and it will be a great tool to attract travelers. Being three months out of my comfort zone won't be easy, but I love adventures, so I have high expectations on how I can keep up with things and manage to organize myself between the work at the hotel, the ideas and progress we will be making, my curation duties and of course, my personal finances. During the time I will be there, I won't be doing my regular work, so I won't receive any income, therefore my idea is to experience the possibility of taking care of my basic expenses with the rewards of my blog. Of course, I don't plan to stop staking at any time, but I would use the liquid portion for basic expenses by trying the debit card system in hbd if possible. Also, since I used part of my savings in hbd to pay for last minute things related to this trip (light clothing, currency exchange and local transfer), I should save up rewards again so I can pay with hbd for the next hive fest ticket. 😬 Once I get there, I will try to settle into a productive and fun routine that lets me make some income blogging about the work we will be doing there, the excursions I can sign up for, and the local cuisine I plan to discover. I am very, very excited about this. For now, I have a backup in the local currency that I exchanged through the bank, I thought it wouldn't be the best option but comparing with other currency exchange agencies, it saved me commissions and shipping costs, so in the end I did it through the bank with global exchange. **The exchange rate I got was 1€= 3,88 GTC**. I didn't change much, just a little to carry some cash on hand in case of an emergency, especially because I wanted to see what the bills were like hahaha I was worried about not being able to choose the denomination of the bills in the purchase process, but I received only 50 quetzales bills, which I think are fine, they would be about 5.50€ each.

> **Mis planes y preparativos** Como pueden ver, no solo tengo listas las maletas para los próximos tres meses, sino que también llevo conmigo todos los goodies que he obtenido con el logo de Hive, para que quede claro a lo que voy y a quien pueden dirigirse preguntando sobre que es eso jajajaja.
No se me olvida llevar siempre conmigo algo de @worldmappin sé que a los aventureros que pueda haber en el hotel les encantará la idea del mapa y será una gran herramienta para atraer a los viajeros.
Estar tres meses fuera de mi zona de confort no será fácil, pero me encantan las aventuras, así que tengo muchas expectativas sobre la forma en que pueda llevar el ritmo de las cosas y de conseguir organizarme entre el trabajo en el hotel, las ideas y el progreso que vayamos haciendo, mis obligaciones de curación y por supuesto, mi economía personal.
Durante el tiempo que estaré allí, no estaré realizando mi trabajo cotidiano, por lo que no percibiré ingresos, así que mi idea es experimentar la posibilidad de atender mis gastos básicos con las recompensas de mi blog. Por supuesto, no pienso dejar de hacer staking en ningún momento, pero usaría la parte en líquida para gatos básicos probando el sistema de la tarjeta de débito en hbd si es posible. Además, como he utilizado parte de mis ahorros en hbd para pagar cosas de último momento relacionadas con este viaje (ropa ligera, cambió de divisa y traslado local), debo ahorrar nuevamente recompensas para poder pagar con hbd la entrada del próximo hive fest. 😬
En lo que llegue, intentaré adaptarme a una rutina productiva y divertida que me permita generar ingresos blogeando sobre el trabajo que estaremos haciendo allí, las excursiones a las que me pueda apuntar y la gastronomía local que pienso descubrir. Estoy muy, pero que muy entusiasmada por esto.
Por lo pronto, llevo un respaldo en la moneda local que cambie por medio del banco, pensaba que no sería la mejor opción pero comparando con otras casas de cambio, me ahorraba comisiones y gastos de envíos, así que al final lo hice por medio del banco con global exchange.
**El cambio me salió a 1€= 3,88 GTC**
No cambie mucho, solo un poco para llevar algo de efectivo a mano en caso de alguna emergencia, sobre todo porque quería ver cómo eran los billetes jajaja me preocupó no poder elegir la denominación de los billetes en el proceso de compra, pero recibí puros billetes de 50 quetzales, que me parece están bien, serían como 5,50€ cada uno.
# Wish me well 😎 Anyway, I'm off to Guatemala my friends. 😂 Beyond dramas, I don't think 3 months is going to make a radical change in my life (although I'm looking forward to it), but I do plan to take this chance to give myself an official break from corporatism. Returning to Latin America is always a great relief for me, I look forward to enjoy the climate of the area and contribute my bit in all the good things that can be done. Fuera de dramas, no creo que 3 meses vayan a hacer un cambio radical en mi vida (aunque ganas no me faltarían), pero sí pienso aprovechar esta oportunidad para darme un break oficial del corporativismo. Volver a Latinoamérica siempre es un gran respiro para mí, ansío disfrutar del clima de la zona y aportar mi granito de arena en todo lo bueno que se pueda hacer.
Vamos con todo ilusión y ganas, apostando por lo más alto para abrir nuevos camino y posibilidades para todos. Así que, deseénnos toda la suerte posible! 😌
