The Journal KL: HiveFest Opening Drinks | [Eng][Esp]

Yesterday was day zero of #HiveFest10, the day when everything begins and the most cautious start enjoying themselves a little before the event because they arrived early or just in time, like me and some others, who showed up shortly after getting off the plane. Tiredness aside, it's really worth being there at this early stage, especially if it's your first time attending, because it's much easier to chat calmly with other Hivians when they're not stressed out thinking about going on stage to give a presentation or finalizing last-minute details. The welcome gatherings are super relaxed, and that's where I've felt most comfortable and encouraged to talk to people I don't know. A couple of drinks always help to facilitate new conversations and make you feel less shy when talking about yourself. This time, as I was staying outside the meeting point, I checked into the hotel as quickly as possible and, after a quick shower and local dinner, I headed to The Journal Hotel Kuala Lumpur, which I began to spot from a distance as I approached and couldn't help but take a couple of photos. As soon as I realized I was close to the meeting point, I was filled with excitement like a little girl. > Ayer fue el día 0 del #HiveFest10, el día en el que todo comienza y los más precavidos comienzan a disfrutar un poco antes del evento por haber llegado temprano o justo a tiempo, como yo y algunos otros, que hicimos acto de presencia muy poquito después de bajarnos del avión.
Cansancio aparte, merece mucho la pena estar en este primer momento, sobre todo si es primera vez asistiendo, porque es muchísimo más fácil hablar tranquilamente con otros Hivians cuando no están agobiados pensando en que van a pasar a presentar una ponencia en el escenario o finiquitando detalles de última hora.
Los encuentros de bienvenida son súper distendidos y es donde yo me he sentido más cómoda y animada a hablar con gente que no conozco, un par de copas siempre ayudan a facilitar nuevas conversaciones y a sentirse menos tímido al momento de hablar de si mismos.
En esta oportunidad, al alojarme fuera del punto de encuentro, terminé mi registro en el hotel lo más rápido posible y luego de una rápida ducha y cena local, me dirigí a *The Journal Hotel Kuala Lumpur*, que comencé a divisar muy entusiasmada desde la distancia mientras me acercaba y no pude evitar tomar un par de fotos. Nada más saber que estaba cerca del punto de encuentro me lleno de emociones como una niña pequeña.

# The welcome with the much-anticipated *goodie bag*
Hahaha, when I arrived I was so excited and happy that I forgot to take photos of the welcome committee, but it was great to see all the little gifts they had prepared for us as soon as I got out of the elevator. It was also very exciting to receive a warm welcome from @phomo and to find the great @solarwarrior helping her at the entrance 🙌 They gave me my badge with my username, the wristband that allows us to enter and enjoy all the activities over the next few days, and a goodie bag. Although I don't have any photos of the moment when all this was handed out, I'm not going to delay the moment of unboxing the goodie bag to share with you all the cool things that we lucky attendees received at the event. We received lots of useful items with the Hive logo, as well as other items that reminded us that, on this occasion, there would also be a space open to people outside Hive, called #ChainCulture, which would allow us to exchange experiences with users of other blockchains and let them know about the benefits of #Hive. > **Bienvenida con la muy esperada *goodie bag* **
Jajaja al momento de llegar estaba tan entusiasmada y contenta que no recordé tomar fotos del comité de bienvenida, pero fue genial ver, nada más bajarme del ascensor, todos los regalitos que tenían preparados para nosotros.
También fue muy emocionante el cálido recibimiento por parte de @phomo y encontrarme en la entrada, ayudándola a ella, al gran @solarwarrior 🙌 m hicieron entrega de la credencial con mi nombre de usuario, la pulsera que nos habilita a entrar y disfrutar de todos las actividades en los próximos días y una *goodie bag*.
Aunque no tenga fotos del momento de la entrega de todo esto, no voy a retrasar el momento de hacer el *unboxing* de la *goodie bag*, para compartir con ustedes, todas las cositas cool que recibimos los afortunados asistentes del evento.
Recibimos muchísimos elementos útiles con el logo de Hive, aunque también otros elementos que nos recordaron que, en esta ocasión, también habría un espacio abierto a personas fuera de Hive, llamado #ChainCulture que nos permitiría intercambiar experiencias con usuarios de otras blockchains y darles a conocer las bondades de #Hive

I'm a fan of stickers, and this year's are really cute. We were given a new version of the keychain with the chain's logo, which immediately made me think of @mipiano and the [Hive Collectors](https://peakd.com/c/hive-180658/created) community. I still have more keychains than keys, but the collection is growing so I can keep posting at meals. 😉 Finding @thebeedevs chocolates again was a very pleasant surprise. It's one of the best things these developers have, ha ha ha, their fondness for giving us chocolates. Of course, special thanks must go to @roelandp, one of many who deserve credit for organizing and running such a large event so effectively, for including a raincoat at the last minute, which is proving extremely useful during the current monsoon season in Malaysia. I also want to show you part of our contribution as sponsors of this event. @worldmappin has helped design these beautiful shirts that all HiveFest attendees will receive, designed to be worn in the city's warm climate and combat the stifling heat we are facing. The material is super comfortable and lightweight, and in our opinion, the design is beautiful. Encontrarme con las chocolatinas de @thebeedevs otra vez fue una muy grata sorpresa, es de la mejores cosas que que tienen estos desarrolladores jajaja el gusto por regalarnos chocolates.
Por supuesto, hay que hacer un agradecimiento especial a @roelandp, bueno uno entre tantos que se merece por organizar y sacar adelante un evento de tan gran magnitud de forma tan efectiva, por incluir en último momento un chubasquero que está siéndonos súper útil por la temporada de monsones que hay ahora en Malasia.
También quiero mostrarles parte de nuestro aporte como patrocinadores de este evento. @worldmappin h contribuido a diseñar estas preciosas camisas que recibirán todos los asistentes del HiveFest, pensadas para ser usadas en el cálido clima de la ciudad y combatir un poco el sofocante calor al que nos estamos enfrentando. # Even more goodies 😍 But that's not all. It turns out that some attendees at the event also decided to hand out some gifts that were important to them and related to what makes them happy to share on the blockchain. On the one hand, when I met @phattaragon and exchanged just a few words, I was given a set of super cute Halloween-themed temporary tattoos, because we can't forget that it's October. 👻 Some of you know that I'm quite enthusiastic about the world of tattoos, so this makes me very excited and will be very useful for me to continue creating beautiful content for the @tattooworld community. The great and incomparable @macchiata was also very generous in bringing samples of coffee from her homeland to share. We all know what a big coffee lover she is, and she did me a great honor by giving me a packet of the very curious Indonesian civet coffee. 😵‍💫 I've never had the opportunity to try such an exotic coffee, so there will be another post coming soon about the experience of trying it. Pero no todo termina ahí, resulta que algunos asistentes del evento también decidieron repartir algunos obsequios importantes para ellas y relacionados con lo que les hace feliz compartir en la blockchain.
Por una parte, al conocer a @phattaragon y con tan solo intercambiar unas pocas frases, fui obsequiada con un set de tatuajes temporales súper bonito y con temática de Halloween, porque es que no podemos olvidar que estamos en octubre. 👻 Algunos saben que ando bastante entusiasmada con el mundo del tatuaje, así que esto me entusiasma muchísimo y me va a ser muy útil para continuar creando bonitos contenidos para la comunidad de @tattooworld
La grandiosa e inigualable @macchiata también fue muy generosa al traer para compartir muestras del café de su tierra. Todos sabemos la gran amante del café que es y me ha hecho un gran honor al obsequiarme un sobrecito del muy curioso café de civeta indonesio 😵‍💫 jamás he tenido la oportunidad de probar un café tan exótico, así que habrá otro post próximamente sobre la experiencia probándolo jajaja no puedo esperar, me encantan las cosas tan raras.
 
# Food catering
Getting back to the welcome night, let's get to what really matters: the catering for the evening. This was HiveFest's first introduction to local cuisine during this edition, and of course, I was not disappointed in the slightest. Among the various snack options available, I must first mention the most local dishes, as they were also the ones I enjoyed the most. I spent the evening between the chicken cracklings and the fried baby crabs. OMG, they were delicious. I loved finding the latter here, because they were one of my must-try items on this trip. They turned out to be full of flavor and not at all difficult to eat. I had the impression that they would be difficult to chew or swallow, but beyond the crispy frying, they are very soft to eat. Delicious! We also had more common options available for those who don't like spicy food, such as potatoes and fried fish, meatballs in sauce, and a good selection of sauces, cheeses, and fruits to enjoy. > **El catering de comida**
Volviendo a la noche de bienvenida, vamos a lo realmente importante: el catering de la noche.
Este fue el primer acercamiento que el HiveFest nos ofreció para con la cocina local durante esta edición y, claro está, que no me ha decepcionado en lo más mínimo.
De entre las variadas opciones para picar que teníamos, debo hacer mención especial a lo más autóctono primero que nada, pues fue además de lo que más disfruté. Me pasé la noche entre los chicharrones de pollo y los cangrejitos bebe fritos. OMG estaban deliciosos, me encantó encontrarme con estos últimos aquí, porque era uno de mis imprescindibles para probar en este viaje, resultaron estar llenos de sabor y no ser para nada difíciles de comer, tenia la impresión de que serían difíciles de masticar o tragar, pero más allá de la crujiente fritura son muy suaves de tomar. Deliciosos!
También teníamos disponibles opciones más comunes para los menos calientes, como patatas y pescado frito, albóndigas en salsa y una buena selección de salsas, quesos y frutas que disfrutar.

A great initiative by @louis88 that brings us the incredible experience of instant photographs, personalized with the event logos. We all know this user's great talent as a photographer, but this year he has decided to go one step further by giving us instant physical memories of the great moments we are experiencing at this event. # Drinking time
Of course, I haven't forgotten that the name of this gathering is *Welcome Cocktail*, so I won't overlook mentioning that it was everything we needed to combat the perennial heat of Kuala Lumpur. Despite being on the 11th floor of the hotel, enjoying a beautiful terrace with spectacular views, the heat was intense, so the open bar service they prepared for us was a godsend. I had just landed and was still processing how intense the heat was, even at night, so I gratefully accepted the beers the waiters handed me. The alcoholic beverage options were local draft beer *Tiger*, white and red wines, Absolut vodka, and an Irish whiskey called *Monkey Shoulder* that I was unfamiliar with. We also had non-alcoholic options such as sodas, soft drinks, water, and a fruit punch that looked super refreshing. The waiters' service was great. these guys were taking their job very seriously, quickly attending to the requests of all the thirsty attendees, answering every annoying question I asked them about the origin of the products and food, and constantly making rounds throughout the venue, keeping the space clean and tidy, while continuously providing drinks to everyone seated at the tables so they wouldn't feel obligated to go to the bar to order their drinks. I kept seeing beers being brought to the table continuously. Every time my mug started to empty, a waiter would appear, certain that I would want another one. And honestly, with the heat we were experiencing, I was extremely grateful for each of the ice-cold beers placed in front of me. > **El momento de las bebidas** Claro, claro, no me he olvidado de que el nombre de este encuentro es *Cóctel de bienvenida*, por lo que no voy a pasar por alto mencionar que fue todo eso que teníamos a disposición para combatir el perenne calor de Kuala Lumpur.
A pesar de estar en el piso 11 del hotel, disfrutando de una hermosa terraza con vistas espectaculares, el calor apremiaba, así que el servicio de barra libre de bebidas que nos prepararon fue recibido como gloria bendita. Yo acaba de aterrizar y apenas estaba procesando que el calor fuera tan intenso, aunque fuera de noche, por lo que recibía las cervezas que los camareros ponían en mis manos totalmente agradecida.
Las opciones de bebidas alcohólicas era la cerveza local de grifo *Tiger*, vinos blanco y tinto, absolut vodka y un whisky irlandés llamado *Monkey Shoulder* que yo no conocía. Además contábamos con opc
