Living on the Island

The thought of relocating from Lagos State has been so much on me lately. Not like any state in my country is perfect considering different factors, but then, I feel like some other states are just better than what my family and I face here.  ***** At first I thought of relocating to the mainland part of Lagos instead of living on the island because over there, the cost of living seems lower, although it is still high compared to what is obtainable in the east but very much better than what we face here on the island. In fact, by the time I am done with the whole relocating plans, I will prefer to leave Lagos State completely. Where will I even start? This post is looking like a rant post anyways, but it is what it is. ***** First, during the rainy season, the issue is that floods are just so annoying. Lagos is full of water; the land finds it difficult to absorb water, and it becomes terrible when rain falls consistently for days. Currently, some families are displaced due to floods, some persons can't continue doing their business in their stores due to floods, and some students can't access their roads to school until the water dries up a bit in their road. The videos are online, and it's so bad to see situations of people with the flood. Just many uncomfortable living here. That's, by the way, talking about schools, the fees are nothing to write home about. I am not talking about big schools; I am talking about schools that average families should afford, but it's becoming like I am training a primary school child in a private university. ***** It's so uncomfortable, I must confess. Talk about light; it's not just consistent, yet NEPA bills force me to pee on myself at the sound of the amount. Food stuff, ehh? My God, it's as if I am buying gold. All these and more come with outrageous prices, and it's just uncomfortable. At the end of the day, you will find out that we are only making money just to pay bills and nothing in our savings account.  ***** I have taken my time to inquire about the cost of living in Enugu town, my own very state, and from what I know, the state is less stressful than what we have here. I may consider relocating back, but a lot of things will be put in place. Maybe finding a good business over there and even building a house there? It will surely look more comfortable that way if I can before moving. Until then, it's just a plan for now. I strongly want to leave Lagos; I just don't know when yet. ## Images are mine!
