Proof That Good People Still Exist

It can be so devastating to lose valuable items. If you have experienced loss before, then you would understand better what I mean by the feeling of devastation over a loss! It's something I don't wish to experience anymore, but this is life—very unpredictable! Tomorrow we can come across uncertainties even with carefulness, and there is nothing we can do but deal with them. We can only hope for the good. One thing I have come to believe is that despite how careful one can be, there is still a chance to experience loss; it's just that the rate of it will be reduced with more carefulness. ![1755210518891.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nkemakonam89/242hSD3DkAx35N5JtCgDazLwrAjdCrMk6ysoduaN58maxm9GkqgF53xcR8sdKZk5Lfz5R.jpg) ***** Last week, I travelled to the eastern part of Nigeria from the west. It was a very stressful trip while going, but coming back, the trip appeared to be more pleasant, and I was happy until I wasn't happy anymore; I lost my handbag on the way. A handbag with many valuables—it was like a dream. I felt like returning the hands of the clock so I could take a better decision. I only gave my son my handbag to hold for me while I use the restroom. If I am not mistaken, I didn't spend more than 3 minutes before returning back, but then, immediately after I returned, our driver hurried us to enter the bus so we could move, as night was almost approaching. I didn't know that my son had already dropped my handbag on the chair he was seated in and hurried with me to the bus, leaving my handbag behind. I put the bag on his neck, so I was thinking it was still on his neck and didn't bother checking, not knowing he dropped it on the chair. ***** 30 minutes into the journey, I told my son to give me the bag so I could pick something from it, and lo and behold, my bag was nowhere to be found. It was like I was dreaming; the more we searched all over the bus, the more reality kept checking on me that indeed I had lost the bag. I was totally disorganized, but I quickly transferred my money from the two ATM cards inside the bag to another safer account at that moment. Our driver showed me much concern; he tried calming me down, but I had already lost hope of getting the bag back because the place we packed to eat was filled with many people, so it was so easy for the bag to get lost, I thought. ***** Immediately, our driver placed a call to the manager of that eatery and called the security too. He called one other person, three people in total, to report the issue. I was wondering how he has those contacts, and while he was on the calls, I didn't believe it could result in something positive considering the evils that have prevailed in our world today, but then yesterday evening, the driver called me to report to their company pack here in Lagos and pick up my bag. It's been three days since I returned from the trip. I was flabbergasted, like, he retrieved my lost bag? How, like how possible? Am I not just lucky like this? To crown it all, every single item in my bag, including money, was very intact, so rare! ![IMG_20250814_233145_360.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nkemakonam89/AK3eerugqM4dTAFVKYSNGDHP2cwc65ekdRU5EhDMCmPM7CyEBVvmRsFygaJwQZ8.jpg) ***** I couldn't contain my joy and excitement; it was just what I needed to hear. Finally, I gave the driver some money for the kindness he showed to me, but surprisingly, he declined the cash gift. Upon his call credit cards, he spent calling people all along. This driver isn't my brother, nor am I his distant relative, but he made an effort to see that I retrieved my handbag without asking for anything. Indeed, there are still many good people in our world today. Are you one of them? Amen I one of them too? ## All images are mine!!
