The Bear Market Tested My Financial Discipline

The bear market has tested my financial discipline several times since the beginning of this year. There has been this temptation to sell most of the tokens I am holding in Trust Wallet and in Phantom Wallet, but at what rate? Big loss it is, but I was ready to sell off and avoid my emotions being toiled this much. ![20251024_055203_0000.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nkemakonam89/23tGa97chz326iLLi9HtewA1GiuGCzvQ8FcUQ4zZveWQKnc3qeZKaT8MZPRFjJAKFQEcj.png) ***** The more I look into my portfolio, the more the value vanishes into the thin air. At one point I was like, "Better to take half bread than none," because why did many people in the crypto WhatsApp group I have been following suddenly go silent? I asked myself. These were the people always screaming, "This token to the moon," "This and that token has done 10X, 5X, 20X etc." The list goes on with profit testimonies of how the tokens were doubling up and how they were taking profits. ***** You know, when I joined the crypto space, everything looked so greenish; that was in 2021, and I was highly curious, learning a lot about tokens, trading, investments, and more. Someone I met on Hive told me that he hardly writes on Hive anymore because he now trades daily and makes decent profits most days, even though he does lose in some coins. ![20251024_055313_0000.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nkemakonam89/23wgPuqsCfWgt2ARrcZSztZTLKQ9y92SzwszbzE5e9CvoUSfv462yFFYG5phuJBxMj1EL.png) ***** I did my little DYOR anyway before investing in some tokens I bought, but surprisingly, only one of the tokens added smiles on my face; the others vanished to $0, like zero. In fact, the token name was removed from my portfolio, and I kept swiping my phone to know where it went to, lol. Not a good experience at all, really disturbing, as I wasn't prepared for the whole panic. ***** Watching the value of my investment go down drastically questioned the decisions I made in the past. Some of the tokens I have held them since the past year, yet there is no added value but a bigger loss atm. I have tried not opening some of these wallets to check, but the urge to check is still there, lol. However, I quickly reminded myself why I got into the crypto space in the first place—definitely not for quick riches, but for financial freedom and long-term learning. That was what I was advised of. So applying discipline is no longer negotiable upon realizing this; there is no need to sell in fear, but I will wait as long as I can, hoping there will be light at the end of the tunnel. ![20251024_055130_0000.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nkemakonam89/23t773rAWjqfSzEs5Mk9xbwD21sJoHieiEM8M8d3GxMA6kuNnQJ6YBrBNJnda5tFsAPvQ.png) Lately, some people around me kept screaming, "Buy the dip now and smile very soon," but financial discipline also requires that you know when **NOT** to invest regardless of the noises around. Sincerely, I don't understand crypto these days. The people who know better already said that this cycle is taking a different shape, so I am just keeping things low, remaining active here on Hive, and earning here through my blogs no matter how small it is. Emotions shouldn't control my financial journey anymore. This season has taught me many lessons, I must say. ***Images were taken from canva***
