Good evening, fellow travelers!  One of the things I like to do most is explore the city of Maracaibo when I can't take longer trips or tours because my daily routine, my work, or my life as a mom don't allow it. But I really enjoy visiting those places that most people ignore. It makes me proud as a citizen that some of them have been preserved over the years and are full of harmony.  Plaza de la Madres is located in the Primero de Mayo neighborhood and has two sections divided by a street. In the first section, there is a small sculpture in honor of Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío, who is considered the father of literary modernism and is well known for his works that contributed to literary evolution.     The second segment of the square features half a sun, representing Maracaibo as the beloved city of the sun, several benches to sit and enjoy the space, and a fountain, which was turned off at the time of my visit.     Then two enormous benches covered in green ceramic tiles followed the edge of the planters filled with trees and flowering shrubs, leading me to the monument in honor of mothers.    On a stone base stands a mother with two babies in her lap, and a big boy sitting very close to her. This image looks so sublime and tender that I can only think of how deep and pure the love we mothers feel for our children is.    This square was inaugurated on January 20, 1952, with the main purpose of celebrating mothers every year on their day. It is also a great place for a nice evening walk when the Marabino sun is setting.  At the end of my walk, I came across a bench with a quote from Malala Yousafzai: "TO MAKE ME POWERFUL, I ONLY NEED ONE THING: EDUCATION." YOU ARE YOUR OWN HEROINE, referring to the fact that education is the most important thing, helping us to change the world, grow as people, and gain knowledge. Una de las cosas que mas me gusta hacer es recorrer la ciudad de Maracaibo cuando no puedo realizar viajes o recorridos más largos porque la rutina diaria, mi trabajo o mi vida de mamá no me lo permiten, pero esas ganas de recorrer esos espacios que la mayoría ignora, disfruto mucho visitarlos me hace sentir orgullosa como ciudadana de que algunos puedan mantenerse a través de los años y que se encuentran llenos de armonía.
La Plaza de la Madres se ubica en el sector Primero de Mayo, cuenta con dos segmentos divididos por una calle, en el primero se encuentra una pequeña escultura en honor al poeta nicaragüense Ruben Darío que es un considerado el Padre del Modernismo Literario y muy conocido por sus obras escritas entre que ayudaron a la evolución literaria.
El segundo segmento de la plaza, posee la mitad de un sol lo cuál representa a Maracaibo como la ciudad del sol amada, varias bancas para sentarse a disfrutar del espacio y también cuenta con una fuente que para el momento de mi visita se encontraba apagada.
Luego dos enormes bancas cubiertas de cerámicas en color verde seguían el borde de las jardineras llenas de árboles y arbustos con flores para llevarme hasta donde se encontraba el monumento en honor a la madres.
Sobre una base de piedra se encuentra una madre con dos bebes en su regazo, y un niño grande sentado muy cerca de ella, luce tan sublime y tierna esta imagen, solo puedo pensar en lo profundo y puro que es el amor que sentimos las madres por nuestros hijos.
Esta plaza fue ignagurada el 20 de enero de 1952, con la principal razón de celebrar a la madres cada año en su día, también es un gran espacio para una buena caminata vespertina cuando ya el sol Marabino está ocultándose.
Para finalizar mi paseo me encontré con una banca con una frase de Malala Yousafzai: "PARA HACERME PODEROSA SOLO NECESITO UNA COSA: EDUCACIÓN" ERES TU PROPIA HEROÍNA, haciendo referencia a que la educación es lo más importante, nos ayuda a cambiar al mundo, a crecer como personas y a obtener conocimiento.
