Hello travelers!  What was once the most important museum in Zulia no longer exists. Only its deteriorated infrastructure remains, which is truly saddening. I went to the site to see if it was still open, and it is unfortunate that its doors are closed and it is in a state of total abandonment and solitude, even though it supposedly has a new board of directors that is doing its best to beautify the museum.  The Zulia Museum of Contemporary Art, also known as Maczul, had paintings by the state's most important artists on display. It was inaugurated on October 24, 1998, the date that coincides with the birth of Rafael Urdaneta, a historical figure. Its construction was made possible thanks to the president at the time, in conjunction with the University of Zulia, the regional government, and private sector companies.  Its spaces were created by various founders so that different forms of art could be stored in the museum's rooms, thus promoting numerous artists from our region and promoting culture as the greatest expression of love and creativity for social development. Currently, I do not know where their works are; they were probably moved to another location, or some remain there, I cannot say.  Apart from feeling sad, I was a little scared, because the façade was covered in weeds and unclean, and I could have encountered an animal or an antisocial person. but the museum was so empty that it was just me and my companion. We ventured into what appeared to be the lobby or terrace area, which is outdoors, and from there we could see two buildings, one like the University of Zulia and the other like the University Hospital of Maracaibo. In this area, there were colorful metal spirals hanging from the ceiling, which I found quite interesting.        Its main doors were completely closed, and through the windows, one could see a space that was completely abandoned and neglected. What was once a space full of life is now devoid of beauty, visitors, and artists, except for us. Lo que alguna vez fue el museo más importante del Zulia, ya no existe, solo queda su deteriorada infraestructura lo cuál produce un verdadero pesar, fui hasta sus instalaciones para ver si se encontraba aún abierto y es una lástima que sus puertas se encontrarán cerradas y en total estado de abandono y soledad, aunque supuestamente tiene una nueva directiva que está haciendo su mayor esfuerzo para embellecer el museo.
El Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del Zulia también llamado Maczul recuerdo que tenÃa en exhibición cuadros de los artistas más importantes del Estado, fue ignagurado el 24 de octubre de 1998 fecha que coincide con el nacimiento de Rafael Urdaneta quién fue un personaje histórico, su construcción fue posible gracias al Presidente de la época, en conjunto de la Universidad del Zulia, el Gobierno Regional y empresas del sector privado.
Sus espacios fueron creados por diversos fundadores para que las distintas formas de artes estuvieran guardados en las salas del museo dando asà a conocer a numerosos artistas de nuestra región además de impulsar la cultura como la mayor expresión del amor y creatividad para el desarrollo social, actualmente no se donde se encuentran sus obras seguramente fueron movidas a otro lugar o algunas reposan allÃ, no sabrÃa decirles.
Aparte de sentir tristeza, tenÃa un poco de miedo, porque su fachada estaba cubierta de maleza y carente de limpieza, podÃa encontrarme con algún animal o antisocial, pero estaba tan solo el museo que solo estábamos yo y mi acompañante, nos atrevimos a ir hacÃa lo que serÃa parte de zona de vestÃbulo o terraza que se encuentra al aire libre y desde allà se observan dos edificios como el de la Universidad del Zulia y el Hospital Universitario de Maracaibo, en ésta área se encontraban guindando desde su techo unos espirales en metal y pintados de colores que me parecieron bastante interesantes.
Sus puertas principales estaban totalmente cerradas y podÃa verse a través de sus vidrios un espacio totalmente abandonado y sin mantenimiento alguno, lo que alguna vez fue un espacio lleno de vida hoy se encuentra sin esa belleza, sin visitantes, sin artistas excepto nosotros.
Dejamos atrás el MACZUL y esperamos volver cuando regrese su brillo.
