The flu is over, so despite the weather not being the best, I decided to go for a walk with my husband in the countryside, taking advantage of the opportunity before the storm hit. We decided to take a stroll in a village not far from us: San Felice, a village made up of small hamlets that wind along the main road, located in the hills of northern Pistoia. It's a popular place for beginners, as it offers plenty of space for walking and easy trails. Even though the weather wasn't the best, visiting this village made me feel good. Just walking from the top of the village, you can admire beautiful views, green fields with rushes and reeds overlooking the Pistoia mountains. When it snows, you can even see the snow-capped mountains in the distance. The landscape is typical of hills and is very beautiful if you love nature and greenery.

Ya no tengo gripe, así que, aunque el tiempo no acompaña, decidí dar un paseo con mi marido por el campo, aprovechando la oportunidad antes de que llegara la tormenta. Decidimos dar un paseo por un pueblo cercano: San Felice, un pueblo formado por pequeñas aldeas que serpentean a lo largo de la carretera principal, situado en las colinas del norte de Pistoia. Es un lugar popular para principiantes, ya que ofrece mucho espacio para caminar y senderos fáciles. Aunque el tiempo no acompañaba, visitar este pueblo me hizo sentir bien. Simplemente caminando desde lo alto del pueblo, se pueden admirar hermosas vistas, campos verdes con juncos y cañas que dominan las montañas de Pistoia. Cuando nieva, incluso se pueden ver las montañas nevadas a lo lejos. El paisaje es típico de las colinas y es muy bonito si te gusta la naturaleza y la vegetación.

During the walk, in addition to the greenery and the views, you unfortunately also see the old abandoned paper mill. Half of my family worked here when it was in operation, providing employment for many people. Today, it's a disused ruin, and it's a shame because it's a great structure and could be used for so many things. Besides the old paper mill, we also see the various hilltop villages in the distance. I haven't visited them all yet, but I'll have to because I think they're very pretty little towns. Even the small clusters of houses in San Felice are charming. Many of the houses are obviously old, probably rural in style, while others are newer, very beautiful, with lovely, well-kept gardens. There are also still old farmhouses with adjoining fields. This area is more hilly than rural, but it still has rural elements. It's very beautiful even in the gray weather, although it gives the views a darker feel. We took a nice walk around the most natural area of the town. If the weather is good, you can even walk along the river, where many people have even bathed in the summer. But given today's gray sky, we preferred not to risk it because it's easy to fall into the river. The river I'm talking about is the Ombrone, the main stream that runs through Pistoia, a river that crosses the entire province and many towns.

It was also used by paper mills, and those still operating still use it today. In addition to irrigating fields, walking through San Felice we noticed that many homes have vegetable gardens along the river. Despite the bad weather, it was a lovely outing with beautiful views. Now all that's left to do is plan to visit the surrounding towns!

Durante el paseo, además de la vegetación y las vistas, lamentablemente también se ve la antigua fábrica de papel abandonada. La mitad de mi familia trabajaba aquí cuando estaba en funcionamiento, dando trabajo a mucha gente. Hoy es una ruina en desuso, y es una pena porque es una gran estructura y podría usarse para muchísimas cosas. Además de la antigua fábrica de papel, también vemos a lo lejos los diversos pueblos en las colinas. Todavía no los he visitado todos, pero tendré que hacerlo porque me parecen pueblecitos muy bonitos. Incluso los pequeños grupos de casas de San Felice tienen encanto. Muchas son obviamente antiguas, probablemente de estilo rural, mientras que otras son más nuevas, muy bonitas, con jardines preciosos y bien cuidados. También hay antiguas casas de campo con campos colindantes. Esta zona es más montañosa que rural, pero conserva elementos rurales. Es muy bonita incluso con el tiempo gris, aunque le da a las vistas un aire más sombrío. Dimos un agradable paseo por la zona más natural del pueblo. Si hace buen tiempo, incluso se puede pasear por la orilla del río, donde mucha gente se ha bañado en verano. Pero dado el cielo gris de hoy, preferimos no arriesgarnos porque es fácil caerse al río. El río al que me refiero es el Ombrone, el principal arroyo que atraviesa Pistoia, un río que cruza toda la provincia y muchos pueblos.

También lo usaban las fábricas de papel, y las que aún siguen en activo lo siguen usando. Además de regar los campos, paseando por San Felice notamos que muchas casas tienen huertos junto al río.
