Good day, everyone, and welcome to another edition of Liverpool-related news. Today I will look at one of the reports I made a month ago about Liverpool’s winger Federico Chiesa. The Italian winger made it clear that he wanted to leave the club in the summer because he was not getting more playing time, and everything was agreed between Liverpool and Chiesa that he would leave the club this summer. Federico Chiesa only insisted that he wants Italian clubs and would not consider a move outside of any other European clubs.
The summer was long, and there were no rumours on Italian clubs that were linked to Chiesa, but the message was clear from the player that he wanted to leave this summer. Along the line, Late Diogo Jota passed away, and Chiesa's move kind of went under the rug for some time, and then the Luiz Diaz saga began to take over the transfer market as the Colombian player was linked to Barcelona and Bayern Munich. I remember writing that if Luis Diaz eventually leaves Liverpool this summer, then there is no point in letting Federico Chiesa leave this summer, and Chiesa will be getting more game time at the club.
Luis Diaz was keen on the exit move from Liverpool and Bayern Munich were able to convince Liverpool with a fee of 75 million euros for the Colombian winger. Barcelona backed out of the deal as they weren't going to spend over 60 million euros, and they informed the Colombian player's agent of this decision. Luis Diaz completed his move to Bayern Munich and the chapter between Diaz and Liverpool was put to an end. Chiesa's move was still in consideration, but something changed, and it was when Chiesa scored his first goal against Bournemouth in Liverpool's 4-2 thriller at Anfield.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Chiesa's agent has informed Liverpool that he wants to stay at the club and doesn't consider leaving this summer anymore, which is a good decision the Italian winger has made as the transfer window approaches its end in four days. Now the key thing to this story is that since Federico Chiesa has decided not to leave the club this summer, will he get more playing time at Liverpool this season? Yesterday's 3-2 thriller away from home against Newcastle which I will discuss in another post. Chiesa was substituted in the 80th minute of the match and it makes me wonder if Arne Slot will utilise the Italian this season.
It's still early start of the season so I won't be making any assumptions for now, but I will be watching Liverpool's matches closely to see if anything changes with the way Arne Slot will be using Chiesa this season and as Chiesa has to get his act together and put in his best in other to be getting frequent playing time this season. So guys this is where I drop my pen, stay tuned for more Liverpool updates and have a good day.
