Reading a complex text trains us to identify manipulation, to connect ideas, to understand narratives beyond the headline, and above all, to build our own inner strength, our own criteria, and our own philosophy of life.
Some time ago, I wrote about post-truth and its rise to power. Today, this has materialized with the triumph of several leaders who espouse this type of thinking. Misinformation, the manipulation of emotions, and the construction of truths according to interest corrode public debate. This has a negative impact on our ability to understand many things in today's society. In Trump's case, he is trying to rewrite American history every day.
The ability to read critically becomes a tool for civic survival. It allows us to question, verify, and empathize with other people's perspectives and to assess whether our decision-making is based on informed aspects. Therefore, I believe that rather than a rebellious gesture, it is an act of self-preservation: defending our own minds in order to survive in an increasingly complex and hostile world.

La capacidad de leer críticamente se convierte en una herramienta de supervivencia cívica. Nos permite dudar, verificar, y empatizar con perspectivas ajenas y de evaluar cuando nuestra capacidad de tomar decisiones es basada en aspectos informados. Por ello, considero que más que un gesto rebelde, es un acto de auto preservación: La defensa de nuestra propia mente para poder sobrevivir en un mundo cada vez más complejo y hostil.
