CHUPAPI, The Fighting Fish

He never failed to bring happiness every time we checked on him. When he moved his fins in the water, it's like he was dancing in a tune of a melody.

This is what I remember our fighting fish who died a few weeks ago. We are fish keepers. We have now several tropical fish in our different tanks. But it was our first time to decide to have a fighting fish, the Betta. We named her, Chupapi, because of a viral video that we saw online.

We placed Chupapi in a planted nano tank, together with some shrimps. We took away the guppies that used to live in the tank, to avoid stress for all of them. He was only a few centimeters big when we bought him online. We were so excited to keep him because he has this dazzling color that captured beautiful shots when you took a photo of him. And I loved our feeding time because I used to give him food most of the time and watched him eat it. It became a normal routine.

One morning, we were quite shocked when we didn't see Chupapi in his tank. We thought that he only hid in one of the stones, as he used to do. We also noticed that the filter had this weird sound. We looked for him in the tank, but he was not there. We started to get worried because it only meant one thing. We checked the back of the tank, the floor, but we didn't find him. When we moved the shelves, we noticed a small thing, dark and dry. We did not know if what it is. Yet, after a few minutes, we identified it. It was a fish. It was Chupapi.
