Closer look of my Succulents | I am a Proud Plantita

My interest in plants started when I was still young. Maybe because I grew up in the countryside where a lot of greens in the surroundings. I always have that image of the fresh ambiance when plants are around.

I attended the wedding of one of my closest friends. And at the end of the day, I never expect to bring with me home one of my favorite things on earth, cute little pink pots with plants. It happens that they decided to have it as their souvenirs on their special day. And guess what, I brought with me four of them with different variations, all of them were succulents. These are the Needle Stonecrop, Cylindrical Snake Plant, Rainbow Elephant Bush, and Dwarf Jade. I found them very attractive when I saw them because of the color of their pot which is the favorite color of the bride, pink, with a gold ribbon in it. Because I was so happy to have them, I decided to make them my subjects for an afternoon photo shoot. It rained a little bit after I placed them in the window so some droplets were observed that made me more excited to capture them. And since I love Macro, I decided to capture a closer look on them.

Needle Stonecrop

This is Sedum lineare 'Variegatum' or I know it as Needle Stonecrop. I love the light-green color of its leaves. We can also notice that the leaves have a creamy white edge. It was only a few inches in length when I got them. I was lucky because there were only a few of them in the event and I was able to bring one home.

Cylindrical Snake Plant

Another one here is Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Cylindrica’ or Cylindrical Snake Plant. The long tubular leaves that have shades of green markings on them is the characteristic that we can easily identify on this plant. Since this is very common, there were a lot of them on the souvenir table. And I like this variety because it looks simple and it fits anywhere I put it.

Rainbow Elephant Bush

The third one is the Portulacaria afra 'Tricolor' or Rainbow Elephant Bush. This is the favorite one among the four of the bride since the color is obviously her favorite color is well noted on the plant itself. The fleshy, creamy white, green leaves appear very feminine to me. Like the Needle Stonecrop, there were only a few of it in the events, and lucky to have one with me also.

Dwarf Jade

The last one is also Portulacaria afra, a Dwarf Jade. I have a lot of this variety at home in the province. I really love this because of its glossy green leaves. Its burgundy stem is just perfect for the color of its leaves. And I usually love to place them in a white pot. One thing I like about this plant is the thought that it looks like a tree in a small pot.

Many of my friends were teasing me because I brought all the types of succulents during the event. Well, I just love to have them and many of the guests don't mind having any so might as well owned the four of them. And the bride knew that I will certainly take good care of them. If only I can have more but sharing with others is also good.

If you noticed, these plants are still small. But I am excited to see them grow. The pandemic here in the Philippines turns many of us into Plantito or Plantita. But in my heart, I am always a Plantita. I just love to take care of these living things, as much as I love pets.
