A Sublime Sunday

It's been a little over a week since coming ashore. My home, for the last year, was brought onto the hard last week at East River Shipyards in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. My Daughter and Son-In-Common-Law have graciously been putting up with me during my stay, ashore, in Halifax.

Last year's boating season was spent preparing and sailing Makina from Scarborough, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The winter was spent in a wet berth at Armdale Yacht Club in Halifax.

A mooring ball was taken for the season in Lunenburg Harbour, to be used as home base over the summer. Makina sailed south as far as Shelburne and in the other direction along the coast we made some good exploring of Mahone Bay until bringing Makina onto the hard at East River Shipyards.

Life is different ashore in the obvious ways, yet in the not so obvious as well. It is nice to see the lifestyles laid side by side as Makina has her facelift and maintenance for a possible passage south this autumn.

This year seems to have been a good choice for me. My hope is that that feeling will prevail on the further passage of Makina.
