Finally back onboard Makina! It may have taken climbing a twelve foot ladder with her still on the hard, yet we were onboard again all the same. 😄
Tom, the Yard Owner, had invited me down to the yard to have a look at the finished hull work and paint job.
When calling around for a rental yesterday it shocked me to find that all local rentals were spoken for. When explaining this to Tom he said that there was one of his staff coming to the city for parts the following day and would pick me up for a drive to the yard.
My ride arrived at 9:30 and an hour or so later we were in East River. Tom was there to greet me and took me over to the painting shed where Makina is still being housed. Perhaps the following images do no do the paint job justice; yet the finished product was beyond my expectations! They seemed to have gotten her original colour perfectly!
Jamie claimed it was a shade off yet these old eyes couldn't see it.

In the foreground of the first photo you will noticed the rudder under repair. It had taken a lot of moisture in its interior. The original surveyor in Ontario has suggested that it be looked at when next out of the water. He probably did not expect it to be a little over a year until that happened. It is a great repair to have made with the passage in mind for later this fall.
 Rudder under repair Tom introduced me to Dennis who will be handling the head installation. He will install it with the option of sending the output to a storage tank, which he will install under the port bench, or over the side using the original through holes. Tom felt assured that all the details which we have covered will be completed in time for a passage south this October. Reality seems to be heading my way like a speeding locomotive. 😎 Tom offered to have me driven back to the city. These guys are some very nice people.
