In all we do in life, we are aiming to earn more. But the thing is, as we keep earning, bills keep taking it, because bills are always available, coupled with the unstable economic situation in my country, where the prices of things keep going high daily while the amount earned remains constant.
As my response to this prompt, earning in my country is a bit difficult and a bit easy depending on the situation. For someone who grows up and starts hustling on their own, goes to school with the aim of getting something better to do after graduation, if God is not solidly by your side, you will notice that having a good job that gives you enough earnings to foot most of your bills will be quite difficult. Most jobs here don’t pay well, and even those that try to pay better still face the challenge of high costs of commodities and constant bills waiting to take part of your earnings. But for those who have both the certificate and the connection, they might be a bit lucky to earn well easily, especially if their connection is politically related, @tigrace my sister can attest to this.
I remember coming back from service to earn less than what NYSC was paying me, after working there for about six months I said to myself that this would not help, so I started hunting for another opportunity. And guess the job, the almighty teaching job, which is one of the most underpaid jobs in this part of the country. The job is tasking and demanding, but the pay is not really worth it. Only a few private institutions pay well, but before you can earn such high pay, the institution will drain all your energy first, you will have to work tirelessly and sometimes overtime, with some surcharges if you default, so before you earn you will sweat.
To be able to manage the bills, one must not depend solely on their certificate or a white-collar job, you must also look out for other side hustles, learn skills, and other crafts that can fetch you extra sources of income. In today’s world, creativity and consistency also matter a lot, because the more creative and consistent you are, the higher your chances of increasing your earnings and achieving financial stability.
