I just want to share how I accidentally discovered gold icing. It started with me warming up my claying skills. I was initially thinking of making a bear eating a cupcake when it hit me: I have never seen anyone make a metallic shade icing.
I decided to go " traditional" with making the icing. A mixture of liquid clay, some polymer clay(in this case, old gold shade) to get the gold colour. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with how it turned out.
I took my gold mica powder and mixed it up with the rest of my mixture.
Then I started making the cupcake base:
For me, it is very important to make the cake detail because you'll never know how the icing/ frosting will set.
Scoop some icing- I did not use any extruder or small piping tip for this. Then swirl it around the cupcake.
I still have some polymer clay sprinklers left over and I cut them into tiny pieces to complete the look.
Baked and sealed the pieces to have something that looks like this.
I swear I am so in love with these pieces I even made some other designs. I am still working on them as you read this.......
